Husband and I of 15 yrs split recently. We have 2 children who live with me, we sees them as and when it fits his mood.
Our marriage was mental, emotional and physically abusive.
Since splitting (5 months ago) I have had three one night stands - one of them was great, one was on and one was so awful. I didn't even fancy him - why did I do this?
It is normal to be like this after a split?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. After I divorced I slept with more people than I had the 20 years before - had only been with exhusband for 7 of them. I think I was trying to reaffirm my attractiveness, prove I was in control, footloose and fancy free. Lots of reasons. Slept with some bloody idiots. Had a few fwb. Did not want to get into another relationship. Got bored eventually and went celibate by choice for 3 years after that.

I second what thingsdogetbetter said. Totally normal. Don't beat yourself up. There are loads of guys after casual sex so you can afford to be picky.

Perfectly normal. I was in a relationship 20 years, married for 17 of those. I met STBXH when i was 17 and a half, so as far as I'm concerned now I'm making up for the fun I should have had in my youth!! Go you!

Normal and fun. Single women have needs. Make sure you fancy the next one though.

Oh how you've made me feel so much better!
Thanks for the advice - think I will be a bit more picky from now on !!

Just stock up on condoms (important!) and enjoy yourself. Be passionate and discreet and watch out for the “moral police”, who may well lecture you. Sex is fun, regardless of how single you are!

Perfectly normal but often very unfulfilling as you are finding. One regular FWB makes much more sense but then you have to watch the feelings.

Personally I found that through doing what you are that I needed emotional
Connection to really enjoy sex so after a mad 6 months where frankly I made some really poor choices, I decided to stop it and eventually went back into the dating world as I wanted something more meaningful. That involved a two year dry spell before I was ready though.
