MIL horror stories

Having got a difficult MIL and reading recent threads about MILs from Hell, I just wondered if anyone wanted to share their horror stories? A good vent is cathartic, I find. And reading the most recent MIL thread, I recognised my own MIL in a lot of those posts.

One thing I did find was it's nice to know other people have similar situations and that it's not just me whose MIL doesn't seem to like me!

Came here for the MIL stories... Disappointed :(

Misfitpuddleduck - there are loads of ghastly MIL threads on Mumsnet. Only takes seconds to do an advanced search.

I agree op, would the same response be to workplace bullying etc? I was completely and utterly bullied by my Mil so those that say they give their mil respect as they would expect clearly haven't been on the receiving end of complete vitriol and malice as a result of uncontrollable jealousy simply because they can't accept their child forging a life with someone independent of their mother.
I don't think this a thread in bad taste at all OP and it was threads like this that helped me feel less alone after experiencing so many awful encounters.
