New boyfriend and FB pic

Am I being unreasonable?

Been with my boyfriend for 4months. He said at the start he won't do the FB thing with me because his ex can hack into his FB
4m down the line it's grating on me so I asked him and he said he's a private person and just doesn't wanna change his pic or associate with me on it and he's not a teenager and doesn't need to plaster it all over fb ?

OP posts:

Jeez I'm 20 been dating my bf for 6 months. He has no Facebook. I do and I don't mention him on any social media, photos etc. People who need to know, know. The rest is irrelevant.

That's not true catonasswing. I've got four dc all aged 20-26 and they all do social media to varying degrees, but relationships don't feature at all.

They and their friends roll their eyes at people tagging new bfs and gfs, 'cute' couple pictures etc.

In fact I've just asked two of them and they said - fb isn't for parading your private life, and no relationship stuff until they start to look like a permanent fixture.

OP if you've got other worrieds that's fair enough, but after four months he's allowed to want to keep you off his social media.

It's different if your boyfriend doesn't do facebook @swanlife

RompeCabezas · 05/06/2019 18:49

Exactly @catonaswing, facebook is the medium through which the secrecy comes to light. And I'm older. I'm 49, but I did OLD for years (on and off).

I'm dating somebody now but he is so straightforward and guess what, he just sent me a friend request after our first date. He likes things I post. He doesn't mind if I like things he posts.

It's not rocket science. If somebody you're spending time with, confiding in, sleeping with, getting close to is compartmentalising his life to such a degree that he cannot take the RISK that his acquaintance know that he's in a relationship with you no matter how casual he says that relationship is, then ask yourself WHY?!?!!?

Why can a single man not admit to being in a relationship?

hellodarkness · 05/06/2019 22:30

"Why can a single man not admit to being in a relationship?"

Because he doesn't want family, friends, kids, work colleagues going 'ooh are you seeing someone?' when (1) he isn't sure whether it'll last (2) he'll feel like a public failure if it doesn't last (3) he's rushed into such behaviour before and felt like a fool when he had to start deleting their photos post-breakup.

Surely this thread is a joke. Grow up.
