AIBU - OH celebrity crush

Meeeh · 22/05/2019 14:19

Don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Maybe cry with laughter....

My OH has a long standing crush on a celebrity. Which is fine. Because Ryan Reynolds is mine.

However, he (my OH, not Ryan) frequently leaves comments on her social media like “I’m here for you” and such.

I have no doubt his chances with this celebrity are beyond nonexistent - just feel like it’s a bit strange. He’s in a relationship.

Whaddayathink mumsnetters of wisdom?

PS - Please be kind to eachother if you comment or you owe me a bottle of rose Smile

That's probably the most cringey DP behaviour that I've heard on here so far. You can have my first LTB as I don't think there's any way back from such deludedness cringey behaviour. He's absolutely crossed a line here OP, laughable really but also strangely creepy. ... A.W.K.W.A.R.D lol Hmm

SimplySteveRedux · 23/05/2019 02:57

Ewwww, just no.

Mine's Kate Beckinsale, I follow her on Twatter but no way would I leave messages like that. It's embarrassing!

holdupthere · 23/05/2019 07:57

Are you going to show him this thread, OP?

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2019 08:16

"I'm here for you" is he a taxi driver? Grin

I reckon it's Liz Bonnin.

Just be glad he doesn't have a crush on someone you know in real life!

LettuceP · 23/05/2019 08:24

Aw God that's so creepy. Sorry but I just couldn't be attracted to someone who does something like that, it's really embarrassing.

Mrsjayy · 23/05/2019 08:30

I would die of the cringe it is more than a crush it is all a bit obsessive fanboy he sounds like a teenager.

RobbieBurnsAteMyHamster · 23/05/2019 09:37

Is it Teresa May? 🤔

Susie Dent?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 23/05/2019 09:53

She won't see the comments, presuming she's big enough to have a verified account. She'll filter comments so she sees a number and comments from other verified accounts, and perhaps trending comments if she wants to engage with a few top ones.

So his weird comments are only being seen by him, you, her other fans and potentially you & his friends.

Pinkvoid · 23/05/2019 11:49

Eww, how embarrassing of him!

foreverhanging · 23/05/2019 11:54

I've always wondered who these men are commenting weird stuff on celebs pictures. So odd

Sarcelle · 23/05/2019 12:09

The same type of creepy guys hanging around BBC Radio to see guests or stage doors when a "sexy" performer is in a play. I remember a while back Pixie Lott was in a play and she was treating going to the theatre as a catwalk. All the paps were waiting, but so too were these creepy guys who looked like train spotters badgering her for her attention. It was quite disturbing.

Fine to have a celebrity crush. Weird to fanboy over a celebrity's social media account like a lovesick teen in the hope she'll notice him. I have a friend who does this though. She has an all consuming crush on a sports star. She talks about him all the time, goes to events he appears at, has met him etc. I can only wonder how her husband feels about it all. But I suspect this crush is just an indication that her real life relationship isn't quite in the best place.
