AIBU - OH celebrity crush

Don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Maybe cry with laughter....

My OH has a long standing crush on a celebrity. Which is fine. Because Ryan Reynolds is mine.

However, he (my OH, not Ryan) frequently leaves comments on her social media like “I’m here for you” and such.

I have no doubt his chances with this celebrity are beyond nonexistent - just feel like it’s a bit strange. He’s in a relationship.

Whaddayathink mumsnetters of wisdom?

PS - Please be kind to eachother if you comment or you owe me a bottle of rose Smile

It’s one thing to look at photos of a celeb crush but leaving cringey, stalkerish messages.......creepy and weird. I’m sure the celeb can afford extra security but it must scare them a bit.

Meeeh · 22/05/2019 16:09

@mashedspud I’m not impressed hence the post but that’s a bit ott - he’s not following her or posting stuff like “I like your new curtains”

im here for you- sorry, its fucking weird.

id be mortified if a partner of mine was doing this.

TeaForTheWin · 22/05/2019 16:23

I'll guess carol vorderman xD

I'd reply to his online reply 'umm, this is your wife, we need to talk' xD

InsertFunnyUsername · 22/05/2019 16:27

Yeah i would want the ground to swallow me up, if people saw my DP commenting stuff like that, its embarrassing.

Having a celeb crush is fine, leaving comments like you know the person "Here for you" Hmm is cringe.

Loopytiles · 22/05/2019 16:27

Telling him his actions are unattractive, disrespectful to you and creepy would not be U or amount to “regulating his behaviour”.

NameChangeNugget · 22/05/2019 16:46

Missing the point completely, I’m going Dr Alice Roberts or Lucy Worsley??

Beside the point anyway. Your DH sounds a bit creepy to be honest

Meeeh · 22/05/2019 16:47

Aside from the responses that have assured me I’m not BU ..... loving the various suggestions about the celebrity crush 😂👍🏻

Who is it?

Maybeitsjustmeor · 22/05/2019 16:53

Scarlet johanson or Nigella? Haha I don't know how old he is but I'm going with those

Maybeitsjustmeor · 22/05/2019 16:53

Wait is it Mother of Dragons!!??

Loopytiles · 22/05/2019 17:11

None of these are “thinking man’s crumpet”: they are all conventionally beautiful sex symbol types.

iklboo · 22/05/2019 17:23

That's just weird. Saying you'll be there for someone who wouldn't know you if you stood up in their soup and farted the national anthem is just.....odd.

Meeeh · 22/05/2019 17:28

He’s in his fifties 🙄

So, who is it?

Blazings · 22/05/2019 18:05

Is it Teresa May? 🤔

TrixieFranklin · 22/05/2019 18:06

@Blazings Grin

Bobbindobbin · 22/05/2019 18:07

Kirstie Allsopp??

ConfCall · 22/05/2019 18:18

It’s cringe making. What a muppet.

allyjay · 22/05/2019 18:27

I really couldn't fancy a man who did this!

Cannyhandleit · 22/05/2019 18:30

My OH has a thing for paloma faith. It's a long running joke in our house whenever she comes on tv I say 'oh look, there's your bird'. His crush does not bother me in the slightest but if he started commenting on her fb posts I'd think it was a bit weird and a bit sad!

AnyFucker · 22/05/2019 18:32

Tragic

EskewedBeef · 22/05/2019 18:34

He sounds delusional. It's one thing being a sad act who thinks a celeb might notice their pointless comments on social media, but it's going beyond that to claim to 'be there' for them - what does he think that would mean to her?!

Sarcelle · 22/05/2019 18:37

Susanna Reid gets a lot of tragic middle aged male attention on Twitter. Is it her?
