AIBU - OH celebrity crush

Meeeh · 22/05/2019 14:19

Don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Maybe cry with laughter....

My OH has a long standing crush on a celebrity. Which is fine. Because Ryan Reynolds is mine.

However, he (my OH, not Ryan) frequently leaves comments on her social media like “I’m here for you” and such.

I have no doubt his chances with this celebrity are beyond nonexistent - just feel like it’s a bit strange. He’s in a relationship.

Whaddayathink mumsnetters of wisdom?

PS - Please be kind to eachother if you comment or you owe me a bottle of rose Smile

OP posts:

Please tell him he is making himself look desperate by commenting stuff like that. She probably rolls her eyes or shudders at those comments.

VanillaCoconutDove · 22/05/2019 18:39

I’d be mortified, that he was doing it so publicly! Everyone’s allowed a celebrity crush, but it’s either tragic or disrespectful, or quite possibly both at once.

Sarcelle · 22/05/2019 18:43

It would be an immediate turn off. Childish, like a moony teenager.

EllenRipley · 22/05/2019 19:04

"I'm here for you" ??! 😯
That's not a celebrity crush, OP. Unless he's 14.
I don't have the correct medical knowledge to describe exactly what it is, though. Worrying?

Nyctophilia · 22/05/2019 19:23

"I'm here for you" is he a taxi driver?

RoseOfSharyn · 22/05/2019 19:35

I guess Victoria Coren-Mitchell as well.

COME ON OP TELL US!

dreichuplands · 22/05/2019 19:49

Is it Theresa May? She is going to need both support and help picking new curtains very soon.
He is being a prat.

QueenintheNorth7 · 22/05/2019 19:54

I wouldn’t be bothered at all about him having a celeb crush but leaving messages like that is a bit weird and I would tell him so

Willow2017 · 22/05/2019 19:57

Good gravy!

I have been 'waiting' for my celeb crush to come for me for years 😁 but not once have I posted creepy messages on any sm accounts. I don't post anything at all.
I would find that so.creepy and off putting. Does he really think she gives a damm about him? She prob thinks he is a stalker in the making tbh.
Tell him to grow up or you will find an actual adult to have a relationship with. It's totally disrespectful to you. if he gets a standard reply is he going to dump you and run off to see her? He must think a lot of himself to think she is pondering his posts to her. Remind him out of all the thousands of followers he is not going to.be singled out by her in a million years, he is sad and he is delusional. Does he really think she is going to turn to some weird random on the internet for support?

Imstickingwiththisone · 22/05/2019 19:59

I'd think he was a loser and I'd be embarrassed if we both had the same friends and I knew they could see what I could see. Not because of disrespect...just that I was associated with a loser 😂

Kittykat93 · 22/05/2019 20:08

God sorry we can all have crushes but commenting 'I'm here for you' on their photos?? Fuck me that's awful and just plain embarrassing.

Whatdidthecardsay · 22/05/2019 20:26

Is it Teresa May? 🤔

Genuinely laughed out loud at this 😂 can picture her posts about brexit now & he comments ‘I’m here for you’ 😂😂

Harebel · 22/05/2019 20:42

Oh god this would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic!

Can you honestly say you're still attracted to him despite knowing he does this? It's just wrong on too many levels.

Sarcelle · 22/05/2019 20:48

I mentioned Susanna Reid, just had a look at the comments on her instagram. So many from deluded men. Some seriously seem to think she will be in touch and they have a chance with her. Presumably some of these have significant others so not just the OP who is facing this.

Morgan12 · 22/05/2019 21:03

Ffs I'd be absolutely mortified. How pathetic and delusional. I'd seriously leave my DH for this utter stupidity. Couldn't be in a relationship with someone so dumb.

Tinytomato2 · 22/05/2019 21:31

Michaela Strachan?

managedmis · 22/05/2019 21:34

Is it a guy?

managedmis · 22/05/2019 21:35

'I'm here for you?'
^

Like, where?

Dahlietta · 22/05/2019 21:44

Good Lord!
Has he only just discovered the internet and doesn't know what it's for?

MissLadyM · 22/05/2019 21:44

That sounds really pathetic & embarrassing! Ps Holly is a nasty cow, and alarmingly thick

Doesitevenmatternow · 22/05/2019 22:16

I cannot stop laughing at this thread.

Op I would bloody kill DP if he was posting such embarrassing rubbish on social media. He is there for her??? Oh god...

7Days · 22/05/2019 22:21

Does he comment under his own name?
I think I'd be ok with it if he was just MAMIL1969 and no one knew. Well not OK but not publically embarrassed

Pinkarsedfly · 22/05/2019 22:21

I reckon it’s Kate Humble.

TinselAndKnickers · 23/05/2019 00:39

In his 50s and commenting on celeb crush Instagram pictures?! It's laughable really and a bit tragic as PP said Blush

Weird weird weird.

loubieloulou · 23/05/2019 01:27

He sounds like a desperate creepy weirdo, I'm sure others who follow her will be laughing at him too. We all have celebrity crushes .... but ughhhhhh, the sheer desperation of trying to contact her paired with the doubly desperate comment would turn me right off him ConfusedConfusedConfused He's taken desperate weirdness to a whole new level threre OP.

I agree with the other posters, he sounds deluded .... more ConfusedConfusedConfused. I'm afraid.
