Hoping someone has some advice really.
I'm 3wks into a 6mth tenancy in a private rental. My partner of 18mths and I are calling it a day. Should never have moved in together I suspect. My main concern is my children. Also in a battle with my ex over contact. Its agreed I have them overnight every Friday and 1 Saturday a month. Also for tea every Monday and Tuesday so I need to stay local really. I've no money, mounting debts and no close family. What can I realistically do to sort this mess? Any suggestions are gratefully received.

So are you staying in the flat, or is he? Are you working? How old are the dc and why aren't they staying with you? You haven't really given us a lot of information, OP.

I'm leaving the house. Can't afford the rent on my own. My ex is taking me for every penny. Kids are 7 and 11. They stayed with dad as he looked after them while I worked full time, long hours and shifts. Didn't want us both to be out of work with the kids to support, separated nearly 2 yrs ago. I've struggled with the guilt of leaving the kids, have had problems with my mental health and have worked my arse off to get back on my feet. Stupidly believed current partners promises to support me and agreed to find somewhere together. Because ex is seen as primary carer and he got to court before me he gets to call the shots when it comes to the kids, which I'm try to fight as they have said they want to spend more time with me. Tried to talk to my ex and sort things out amicably but he's controlling and manipulative, refuses to listen and let his new partner give me a load of abuse. Situation is far from ideal. I'm working nights currently, retraining at the moment for more financial stability and applying for other jobs as working nights goes against me having the kids apparently.

That sounds horrendous! You're being so strong. I'm full of admiration. You've been unlucky with men, haven't you?
