When is it reasonable to date again

H is leaving me, I don't want this but he's made up his mind. For financial reasons he will live here for the foreseeable future but I'm thinking that I should get back "out there" - perhaps by meeting new people I will realise I don't want him. Thoughts please.

How long were you together and why did you split. Perhaps you should take some time to get over things rather than rushing out to date again. Some people might find it weird dating someone who lives with their ex anyway.

bigchris · 27/04/2019 18:06

Sounds like your doing it to make him jealous, wait until he's moved out at least

StarlightLady · 27/04/2019 18:51

When reasonable? Tonight!

DarklyDreamingDexter · 27/04/2019 21:00

As soon as you want to.

FuriousVexation · 27/04/2019 21:08

6 months to 3 years.

If he’s leaving you then you’re after agent! As soon as you feel ready, there’s morning he can say!

Take your time! Why clutter up your life with complications? It'll happen at some point, just have a bit of space, indulge yourself in me time & chill out. New relationships cause all kinds of strife when your in the splitting up process. Give yourself a break OP.

It depends entirely on the person, what they want etc. I split up with my ex around Christmas but we lived together until recently as we had to handle him moving out carefully due to my son.

I went on a date (first ever date!) this week, ex moved out about three weeks ago. I’m not interested in a serious relationship or anything, so I went for some actual adult company and because I thought it would be fun.

Honeyroar · 27/04/2019 21:16

Whenever you're ready. But be sure that you are. I did exactly that when my ex left me. I dated loads, however I don't think I was quite ready and I don't think I was quite fair on the other people. I was carrying too much baggage. You may be different, if so lucky you, go for it!

Order654 · 27/04/2019 21:35

Go for it. If you feel like it

shitpark · 27/04/2019 22:05

Whenever you fancy someone, whenever you want. Men go straight out there and get laid, women are expected to wait around, for stupid reasons.
You sound as though you just want to have fun, just do it and enjoy it

NewMe2019 · 27/04/2019 22:35

Now if you want. Don't put your life on hold because you're still living together. I'm waiting for my ex to move out and I haven't waited. Ok it's not ideal but I'm not letting a great man pass me by because of an unusual living situation. Luckily he is fully aware, knows it's temporary and doesn't care.
