Dh so grumpy after a day out

Does anyone else get this?
We go out for the day and have a lovely time, but as the day wears on dh becomes more and more irritable. By the end of the day he is a grumpy nightmare but insistent it’s everyone else that’s grumpy/unreasonable and not him.

Sometimes I feel it’s not worth trying to go out and do something fun as it will be so short lived.

Its the hot weather. He needs a bucket of cold water chucked over him. Or the garden hose pipe? That'll cheer him up!

The hot weather doesn’t help, you are right but he is like this a lot. He just can’t spend more than a few hours in our company, or so it feels.

My XH became like this as the DC hit their teenage years, he just couldn’t cope with them not being biddable little kids anymore. How old are yours?

Alwaysgrey · 21/04/2019 19:02

My dh can be a bit like this as he’s not used to spending such full on time with the kids. Most of the time he’s pretty good though.

They are hard work like. 4 + 8 but the 8 year old has addiontal needs.

I think I could cope if he was able to just be quietly grumpy, but the whole making everyone else feel like shit really gets to me. He’s a lovely man but when he gets like this it brings out the worst of him.

Ah. Well when the grump has passed you need to sit down and talk with him about this specific problem.

NameChangeNugget · 21/04/2019 19:11

Did he want to watch the football?

Cambionome · 21/04/2019 20:16

He isn't a lovely man though, is he?
He is ruining the day out for everyone else!

How awful. No, I don't get this and I'd be pretty pissed off if I thought my DH was grumpy because he had to spend time with his family.
