After a happy 20 years of marriage, today I think it is coming to an end.

I've just shrunk my wife's favourite cardigan. Pray for me, it could be my last day on earth!! ConfusedConfused

Ach, you'll be fine just as long as you don't tell her to slim into it!! Grin

Easterbunnynearlyhere · 20/04/2019 12:57

FYI my dh shrunk my new mother's day hi-gear fleece camping top.
He says the sofa is quite comfy....

gamerchick · 20/04/2019 12:58

Can you not just order her another one to preempt it a bit?

PhilCornwall · 20/04/2019 12:59

I can't hide the evidence, I've been busted as she took it out the machine.

I'm getting the death stare!!

Oh dear Grin nice knowing you man.

Moominfan · 20/04/2019 13:08

Can you pass the buck and blame it on another unsuspecting family member?

stofi · 20/04/2019 13:09

Are you trialling strategic incompetence Phil?

PhilCornwall · 20/04/2019 13:10

Sadly I can't, our sons don't know what a washing machine is, or a dirty laundry basket.

Aimily · 20/04/2019 13:12

Oops!!! It's not looking good, especially as she got it out 😳
Tell her that belongs to one of your dd, neices, granddaughters, whoever any random female family member and you sent hers for dry cleaning?
And order a replacement ASAP!?!?

PhilCornwall · 20/04/2019 13:32

It's now on the line like a flag at half mast Confused

Depending on the material you could potentially save it.

Google the specific material and how to unshrink and hopefully

Either that or change your name and start anew somewhere else!

lorn195 · 20/04/2019 13:36

Hi everyone to put this in context, this item is a lambswool cardigan which should have been on the wool cycle or handwashed. I have had the cardigan for many years and is well loved. Yes it was lovely to see the sweatshirts in the machine ( one black one as well 😲), but absolutely gutted to have seen this shrunk. Yes I have given @PhilCornwall the death stares but he's promised to leave the sweatshirt washing to me in future.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 20/04/2019 13:48

Haha! Welcome to the thread Grin

Like I said look online as you may be able to get it back to the correct size again lorn.

ticketsonsalenow · 20/04/2019 13:52

our sons don't know what a washing machine is
Just as well, by the sound of it Grin

TheSandgroper · 20/04/2019 14:36

I think it's fullers earth that helps relax the fibres. Then you just gently stretch it as it dries flat. But do check.

PhilCornwall · 20/04/2019 19:09

I'm hoping an afternoon out and two large glasses of red at our favourite beach bar gets me off the hook, maybe another in the garden in a minute.

I'm hoping it's not the sofa for me tonight!! HaloHalo

Singlenotsingle · 20/04/2019 19:13

Tell her she can choose herself another one at your expense.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 20/04/2019 19:15

Hmm, I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet Phil. You need to find and buy her a replacement asap or your new abode could be the shed.

PhilCornwall · 20/04/2019 21:01

I think I will be banished from the marital bed SadSad

Maybe practice a decent Full Monty routine? A sense of humour may win her over.

SandyY2K · 21/04/2019 00:09

Funny thread.

Weenurse · 21/04/2019 05:22

Husband did this when we were first married. I told him he needed more practice with the washing and needed to do it all from then on.
Somehow, 30 years later, the washing had become my responsibility again.
Sneaky bastardised 🤨

Weenurse · 21/04/2019 05:23

Barstard

Weenurse · 21/04/2019 05:24

@lorn195, go easy on him and assign him all the washing from now on as punishment 😁

PhilCornwall · 21/04/2019 11:32

I'm going to have a go at stretching it a bit, well I can't make it any worse, I hope!! Confused
