I’m not sure what you expect him to call them other than pants, if they are pants. Dh has always been a pants fan. I was slightly surprised when I saw them for the first time as I had always thought of them as an old man thing. He claims boxers make his balls hurt though and he can wear whatever he likes. He did also wear speedos for general hanging around at the beach/ pool though. That was my line in the sand andI told him that I’d be pretending I didn’t know him unless he got some swimming shorts instead.

I wear boxers, but still call them my pants. Pants in the UK, is a very generic word, like hoover. There are several types n style, but all called hoover.

So got no problem as a man, that he says pants, but... Bit weird (to.me) he still wearing briefs or Y-fronts.

I don’t like the look of briefs either, like you say only man I’ve ever seen in them is my dad and he calls them knickers which makes it worse

For what it’s worth, an ex colleague and his boyfriend both wear briefs (young, very attractive gay men who share way too much on Instagram) so maybe he’s just stylish?

This is one occasion I would like to see the reaction if a man said he found his partners knickers off-putting and preferred she wore something less comfortable instead.

My dp and DS will only wear boxers but they have to be the soft jersey ones cos they're more comfy. We still call them pants though.

Boxers are a terribly designed underwear garment and every partner/husband I had/have has complained about them. Ugly but comfy y-fronts seem much more practical and if I refuse to wear thongs everyday because they're uncomfortable for me, then who am I to judge?

Kids are more traditional “pants” shapes I guess.

I call all men's underwear pants unless I need to be specific for some reason. I assume you are referring to a specific style of (what I call) pant? Are they tight?
