Can't seem to ever get what I want out of life

Hope this is not going to be a long one. Just that really - I really want to change my life completely, but I just don't know where or how to start. Feel like to change anything depends on other factors (usually other people) and I hate confrontation. I had plans to do my hobby all day today but instead just literally stayed in bed crying with too many thoughts in my head. I can't even say too much about it in case someone recognises me. Sorry that's not much to go on I realise.

I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. Do you think you could be depressed? Maybe you could start by seeing a GP or getting some counselling?

You can change anything you want. You just have to go about it in small steps. There's no need for confrontation. I hope you feel better soon.

What's going on OP?

Hi OP,

Staying in doors and feeling depressed will make you more depressed. Only you can change your life, and it happens with small changes. To battle your depression, join a gym, stay active or go swimming. Are you not working or going to University?

What is it you want to change, write down your goals and work out how you can achieve them. Speak to professional people who can help and ask your friends for advice.

Does it happen often or is it a post-Christmas/January slump?

Thank you all. I was feeling overwhelmed with everything - unhappy about where my life is going and comparing it to others. I'm not where I want to be and I tend to see the negative – barriers in all directions – but today I felt a bit better, got my tools out and did some silversmithing (what I planned to do yesterday). I made a silver pendant and it makes me feel like I've achieved one step closer to my goal. Doesn't sound like much but it's made a difference, in that I feel I can tackle my other problems better. Sorry, I just wanted some answers, but found it hard to articulate my problems yesterday – because it was sort of a case of everything.. X

Its difficult when you have lots of things to do to prioritise and get started. I have so much to do with work, studies, moving house as well as childcare and housekeeping that some days I spend hours on here wasting time because I can't decide what to do. It's better to set yourself a few achievable goals a week and do it that way. Well done for doing your hobby today.
