Hi
Things are very strained atm, there are a lot of problems in the marriage. Husband said to me on Thursday he’d like to plan something that we could do ‘as a family’ on Sunday so I thought he was making an effort.
If your husband said this to you, what kind of thing would you expect? I wonder if I’m being unreasonable for being very disappointed by what actually happened.
Thanks in advance.

I’d expect that we’d go for a walk, maybe with tea and cake or lunch depending on what time. Maybe cinema if there was something we all wanted to see.

What happened?

Aussiebean · 04/11/2018 19:05

Day out or an activity we would all go to.

That would be my guess.

isitthehormones · 04/11/2018 19:06

I’d assume something like a walk, a day out all together somewhere like the zoo, lunch or dinner out maybe?

LovingLiving · 04/11/2018 19:06

A day out somewhere to a place of interest? Cinema or bowling?

SuburbanRhonda · 04/11/2018 19:06

I wouldn’t think it was a particular thing, just that the whole family would be involved and it would be something everyone would like.

surlycurly · 04/11/2018 19:06

I'd expect a day trip: beach, museum, lunch, bowling etc etc.

I suppose he's arsed this up, hasn't he?

hamzilla · 04/11/2018 19:07

Something low key but 'together'.

So come on then, what happened?

SuburbanRhonda · 04/11/2018 19:07

Come on, OP - tell us!

Did he take you all to church? Grin

MamaJune · 04/11/2018 19:08

A family walk, going out for breakfast or lunch, maybe an activity / day trip depending on finances

pinkhorse · 04/11/2018 19:08

Did he plan something with his family ie his parents?

ILiveInSalemsLot · 04/11/2018 19:08

I’d assume going out somewhere together. That would be my preference but I’d accept a board game and a meal together at home at a push.

PinkHeart5914 · 04/11/2018 19:08

A walk, lunch out, the zoo that is the type of thing I’d expect

Getoffthetableplease · 04/11/2018 19:11

Well I expect I'd fall off my chair, as DH NEVER says or does this, but that aside I would take it to mean go somewhere or do something all together as a family, no specifics. What happened?

Dermymc · 04/11/2018 19:11

A walk, visit to an attraction like national Trust, football match, going to the park together, tea at a cafe, lunch at a pub. With me dh and children.

slappinthebass · 04/11/2018 19:13

I'd expect a full day our or a nice meal out. If it was just a walk then it wouldn't be a surprise.

NC4Now · 04/11/2018 19:13

We’d go out for tea or to the cinema. Although I don’t have a husband!

Racecardriver · 04/11/2018 19:14

Doing something together. Eg going to a museum/long walk/just hanging out

Reccy2018 · 04/11/2018 19:15

A family activity, like a walk or lunch out

RandomMess · 04/11/2018 19:16

Something different to usual and something we would likely all enjoy. Even if it were just digging out the board games.

LovingLiving · 04/11/2018 19:16

I would expect something nice for the whole family particularly for the kids.

kenandbarbie · 04/11/2018 19:17

Any activity with our immediate family. Even if it's just putting on the fire and watching movies at home.

VictoriaBun · 04/11/2018 19:17

So I'm guessing you all washed the car ?
Or perhaps, cleaned all the shoes in the house ?

Go on, you know you want to tell us ..........

Notacluewhatthisis · 04/11/2018 19:17

It's not one size fits all though.

I would be thinking movie night/afternoon, cinema, walk maybe lunch out.

My best friend would be happy going to the local rugby club, having a drink and letting the kids play with their friends kids.

One person's idea, isn't the same as other people's.

2cats2many · 04/11/2018 19:18

Anything that involved spending time together. In a nice way.

DaphneFanshaw · 04/11/2018 19:21

Anything that we do together, playing board games, going for a walk, th cinema. Depends on timings and finances and what we all fancy doing.
Tbh I am quite happy just to relax at home watching films if we are all together and fancy a quiet one.
