A small Irritance but...

This is a small, petty one but its annoying me...

Everytime I suggest me and DP go to the cinema he agree's and tells me to check what's on (would be nice for him to do the running around once in a while but hey) so I check and list the films I fancy seeing...nearly always he will reply "that hasn't had very good reviews you know..." or "the critics are not liking that one at all.." I have told him countless times that I really couldn't give a shit what other people think of the film, I make my own mind up when I see it...

So earlier on today he asked "what do you fancy doing at weekend?" I said "do you fancy going to see Pirates 3?" and guess what he said? "have you read any reviews on that? it's supposed to be crap" so he's saying he doesnt want to see it as the reviews are not good.

It irritates me so much, I got quite cross with him earlier over it, slight over-reaction maybe but I've not had the best of days, just wondered if anyone else would get annoyed with this? it's like pack mentallity, he only wants to see a film if everyone else says its great, can never just go and see for himself.

I would get peed off with it.
which is why we get all our films off the internet when they first come out (sometimes even before) We get them from a very good friend and the quality is always good.
we can turn them off if they are crap, pause if we need the loo, and use our child free nights for going out for meals and partying all night long (i wish)

mine dismisses films straight away most of the time. i just go on my own if i fancy it. it is annoying!

who cares about the reviews of Pirates 3 - of course it's a pile of tosh but it is VERY easy on the eye. Especially all the bits with Captain Jack.

That's what I tried telling him but he was having none of it

Just book the tickets and tell him what time to meet you!

Yes I'd be annoyed.
It sort of reminds me of my dh when I do DIY. He always has to peer in to check what I'm doing, and he always has a niggly comment to make like, 'Are you not going to mask that bit off first?' or 'Do you really think that's the right drill bit for the job?' and I just think AHHHH Fuck off and do it yourself then you pedantic, critical arse.

Mind you, we're not getting on very well at the moment. When we are it's water off a ducks back.

Perhaps you have other background irritations with him which are making the minor ones sting that bit more?

BreeVanDerCamp · 05/06/2007 22:32

My DH is wonderful,(can you tell he has not annoyed me for ages )

But every so often he gets a bit negative..

I have developed a lilting reply of ........Always a reason why not, never a reason why yes...He hates it.

It pulls him up short, invariably he will reply in a more positive vein pretty soon after. BUT he came up with that on his own, doncha know.
