OP, I wonder if you could have accidentally clicked 'Hide this thread' on the other thread, and that's why you don't see it?

Re the constipation, would he take a simple over-the-counter treatment for it? Psyllium Husk is very effective, eg you can get a pot of Regucol from Holland and Barrett or similar, or get psyllium husk capsules. You take the fibre either in a drink or as a capsule, and follow it with a couple of glasses of water. The fibre is very absorbent and swells up in your tummy. It does the same job as dietary fibre even if you aren't eating any vegetables. Wonderful stuff, and highly recommended for people who have constipation or, eg, pelvic floor damage and have to avoid straining.
