So, yesterday I met a prostitute...

In strange circumstances which are not relevent, but she was just a normal.woman, with 2 primary age children, works from home while they are at school. She said there is nothing she could earn so much from. I would never have guessed until she told me.

I just thought of all the women I read on here who find out their husbands have been paying prostitutes. She said nearly all her clients are married, They either have fetishes they don't want to tell their wives about or aren't getting sex at home.

I just thought, bloody hell, this must go on way more than most women imagine.

CookPass- yes! I had no idea, my lying h was a proper ‘perfect husband’. I would have bet my life that he would never do something like that. I now see him for what he really is.

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 13:13

Namechanged- no! The karma should be all theirs, not yours.

Namechanged9911 · 27/07/2018 13:29

Some sneaky things clients do to go undetected by their wives:

  1. Withdraw small amounts of cash such as a tenner now and again until they have enough to pay for a booking. Much less of a giveaway on their bank statements then randomly withdrawing large amounts in one go.
  2. Have a second phone.
  3. Save the escorts in their contacts list as things like “Dave” so if their wives did ever look through their phones they would be less likely to open those messages to read.

I think far more men see prostitiutes then any of us would like to think. But there will also be many who never would and I think we just need to try and trust that the men in our lives wouldn’t do it. So difficult when you have been a victim of it already though

Racecardriver · 27/07/2018 13:32

Isnt she worried for her children's safety? I would only see prostitution as a last resort but u would never do it with children in the house if I were to fund myself without any other option.

IronNeonClasp · 27/07/2018 13:54

Why would she have her kids in the house when she was working? Hmm

loveka · 27/07/2018 15:27

She does it while they are at school.

I don’t think any prostitute would work with their kids in the house. Clients do have her address though which is a risk in some ways. These men aren’t vetted.

Namechanged9911 · 27/07/2018 16:10

I had a client just randomly show up at my house at 9am on a Saturday asking if I was free for a booking. I had my mum and dad staying over (luckily they didn’t realise what was going on) but I was livid. Working from a home you have kids in (even if they are out during the bookings) is risky

eyycarumba · 27/07/2018 16:33

@Newerversion you would be surprised......Sad Two that I know have had clients at home whilst the kids are in bed. I actually knew one cretin who would take her kids with her to clients houses, they remember sitting in the car or the 'John's kid's room' whilst she conducted business

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 27/07/2018 16:39

I’d like to see figures on how many sex workers are working across the country. Then the amount of clients they have on average per week/month whatever.

The job is probably a lot more normal than most of us know.

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 16:41

I wonder if sex workers pay tax ?

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 16:44

Eyycarumba- that is so sad!

Namechanged9911 · 27/07/2018 17:06

I paid tax as got a mortgage with my earnings and needed it to all be above board. It’s not illegal to be an escort in the UK so I assume a lot of them who do it full time do pay tax (whether they declare it ALL is another story). The ones who just do it now and again In their spare time as a second income probably don’t pay tax but who knows

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 20:07

I guess so, presumably agencies pay it too.

Spellitforme · 27/07/2018 20:15

Well the upside is that she can work term time only!Grin

Chippyway · 27/07/2018 20:19

I find a lot of these replies incredibly judgemental

Some women love doing this job. They’re not all ‘forced’ into it, or doing it because they have no other option.

Somebody I know left her high paying job to do this work, she’s a highly intelligent woman and loves what she does. She loves sex, she isnt harming anybody (it’s the husbands who are in the wrong).

I think it’s insulting to insist women who do this job can’t possibly enjoy it.

Chippyway · 27/07/2018 20:20

She also pays tax.

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 20:42

I am sure some women do enjoy having sex with strangers for money but as discussed earlier, the long term mental health effects are often damaging. Also there can be no denying that the industry is also full of women who at best don’t enjoy it and at worst are forced or co erced. There is a good doc called ‘I am Jane Doe’ which covers this.

RobinEggs · 27/07/2018 21:42

newerversion when I used to work I paid tax, as did all the other girls I knew. Why wouldn’t they? Most say their self employed beauty therapists or massage therapists as no qualifications officially needed.

As to long term MH effects. It’s been a decade since I worked. It was entirely my choice. I wasn’t addicted to drugs, I used an agency but wouldn’t consider myself ‘pimped out’ and I’m educated, middle class and English. Which immediately puts you in a different bracket in terms of consent and earning potential.

But I’m autistic. I had, when I started, never enjoyed sex. I could do it and I got a certain satisfaction out of putting on a good enough ‘performance’ to satisfy partners. I’m a very practical person. I looked at my skill set and working a few hours a week as an escort was, for me, so much less mentally and emotionally draining than having to hold down a full time job.

RobinEggs · 27/07/2018 21:45

I would have to add that I’m hugely sceptical of any man only offering sex to women making large amounts of money. I have also never heard of any woman doing it because they enjoy the sex.

Newerversion · 27/07/2018 21:58

That makes sense- saying you are a beauty therapist, I did wonder what you might put on your tax returns.

Like I said, I bear no malice to prostitutes who choose their vocation at all. My concern is for those who don’t.

My ex’s secret life has really changed my outlook on life and has made me look into so much that I never knew about.

I hate my ex, I see him as a hideous creepy letch, but am so thankful I discovered his ‘habit’ .

beeefcake · 28/07/2018 20:57

Sorry but I do, it is a morally bankrupt profession- would you say the same thing about a drug dealer?

The industry shouldn't be normalised in any way shape or form. Most of all for the poor souls who are forced into it.

SandyY2K · 28/07/2018 21:05

Just goes to show women are capable of making their own choice about selling sex.

I hate it when women try to blame men for prostitution. With accusations of trafficking. Here's a clear example of a woman selling sex of her own free will.

SandyY2K · 28/07/2018 21:09

I have also never heard of any woman doing it because they enjoy the sex.

They enjoy the money and they probably don't hate the sex.

I'm sure bin men don't love it. Sewer workers don't love their job..

It's all about the money.

BigGreenOlives · 28/07/2018 21:18

I know a man in his 30 whose mother was a prostitute, he grew up in a brothel. They don’t have a relationship now & his life has been incredibly hard. I cannot believe it does not effect other aspects of her life.
