My mum and her TV

My mum really pisses me off with her obsession over the TV, she refuses to answer the phone when coronation street or emmerdale is on, will even tell her husband to tell people to phone her back when its finished. She once did this to me when she knew I would be phoning her to tell her whether or not I'd got the job I applied for...she still got her husband to say "tell her I'll phone her back after Coronations Street". It drives me nuts.

Just now I've phoned her, she was fine until I heard her shout to her husband "is it on yet?" and then when he said yes she started getting really ratty and snappy with me obviously wanting to rush off the phone.

Thing is if its anyone else she phones them whenever, for instance Big Brother is the ONLY thing I watch on TV and she knows this yet she phones me when its on...if I rushed off the phone or god forbid didnt answer it all all she would never forgive me!

Am I over-reacting?

If only there was some kind of device available that could enable you to watch a television programme at a later time than when it was originally broadcast.

it would piss me off but I hate the soaps too and the idea that they are in any way important is silly. But I suppose if she is thinking that you can easily talk at a nother time why not.

get her sky+

LOL...this thread did raise a smile (sorry) as my mum is just like this. God forbid you should phone her during one of the soaps! Doesn't really bother me though as I'm not a big natterer.

If it is really bothering you I think Dior's suggestion is a good one. Do the same back to her!

If you know she likes to watch Coronation street, why cant you phone when finished?

we all have things we enjoy doing & I dont think its an issue if its just 30 mins that she enjoys

personally (& dont care if people think Im sad) I dont answer phone or speak if "House" is on

if you were running on your tredmill, would you get off to answer phone?

it annoys me that cos Im single parent, people know Im in every night & so should answer phone
