You and your DP - How much do you have in common?

DH and I were discussing this last night and, although we love each other deeply, we really are quite different, which can often lead to arguments.

e.g. He can sit on sofa watching TV for 3 hours without moving whereas I get bored and have to get things done.

I'm into green stuff and 'hippy' issues whilst he likes talking about making money, which I find very boring.

I love the outdoors and going for long walks whilst he likes watching TV or making music in his studio

Are you like 2 peas in a pod? or chalk and cheese? and does this enhance your relationship or make things v frustating at times?

we have absolutely nothing in common. Different tastes in music, films, clothes, hobbies, and even tv programmes.

but 10 years to show for it!

We live in the same house and have the same two kids but not much else. Still together 14 years later.

charliecat · 03/05/2007 18:04

Very Little. Originally we both enjoyed staying in bed for hours
And now im a compost making, water saving, money saving, non fashionable mum of 2.
And hes a workaholic.

hoolagirl · 03/05/2007 18:05

Uh absolutely bugger all in common I think, although we accomodate each others interests.

Taylormama · 03/05/2007 18:06

he is the pickle to my cheese - we are really different but complement each other well (feel free to add your own emoticon BTW )

Everything and nothing is what dp says about us!Been together 15plus years though so its been ok so far

ShowOfHands · 03/05/2007 18:10

We have extremely different interests but similar approaches to life and we share opinions on the important matters.

A little from Column A, a little from Column B .
He is a grumpy pessimist and I am Little Mary Sunshine, he likes playing with his rock 'band' (but not gigging LOL) and I enjoy doing fundraising/promotions and chatting on the net, he does deadpan and I do punchlines.
But we both enjoyed the Tenacious D movie last night. I think complimentary senses of humour is vital, in fact I seduced him originally with my Simpsons video collection, 9yrs ago now!

similar enough not to kill each other, differant enough to be interesting to each other

Tommy · 03/05/2007 18:41

Tommy · 03/05/2007 18:41

duh

PregnantGrrrl · 04/05/2007 07:15

very similar political ideas, ideas about parenting, taste in music and films and general interests. We also have the same friends.

personality wise, i'm passionate, emotional and excitable. he's calm, sensible and not a worrier. which is good, because if we were both like me, it'd be chaos!
