Never been in that situation but it is an interesting question..

After a period of time, you just sort of do. Depends on the situation in which you were "the bit on the side".

my husband was originally my 'bit on the side' so now dh2 It worried me that he'd think like this but I think our relationship is just so different to what i had before that we both feel pretty relaxed about it all. There are lots of other things in a relationship to worry about!

dont think you can trust each other at all - just enjoy the ride...until someone cheats again

Not technically a bit on the side but I did unknowingly cause DP to leave his wife - he'd had a crush on me for ages of which I was totally unaware, it woke him up to the fact he was unhappy in his relationship and told his wife he wanted to end it.

I do wonder at times if he's going to meet another "me" and want to go off with her, but I'm not particularly worried, his ex and I are totally different people and DP doesn't have the same issues with me as he did with her. Realistically though I see no point in losing sleep over it, there are no guarantees in life and anything could happen, so enjoy it while you can.
