A woman called me lovely once , that's pretty nice

SomeKindOfGenius · 03/02/2018 20:51

My niece (8) told her class at school that I was her hero and that I wear my pants on the outside of my trousers 😂
She then brought me a picture of me wearing said outfit.
That’s probably the nicest thing I have heard anyone say about me.

Myddognearlyatethedeliveryman · 03/02/2018 20:53

My ds 16 often tells me I am an amazing dm. How much he loves me and is glad I am his dm.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 03/02/2018 21:01

I've always hated the way I look but someone I work with once told m I had the eyes of a Disney princess I.e. big and sparkly and it's really stuck with me.

newchapterforme · 03/02/2018 21:03

My DS (3) told me I'm beautiful and his princess completely out of the blue, so probably that!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 03/02/2018 21:10

I always melt when people say I smell nice, but that's just my taste in fragrance.

The overwhelming thing that's stayed with me though is that someone from my school days told me decades later that they thought of me often because I was the only one who never treated them differently.
I'll never forget that and it made me feel really humble and a bit teary.

When My little boy told me he wanted to keep me forever

Tweetypie88 · 03/02/2018 21:15

The amazing little boy that I am 1-1 support for told me Friday "you are the best people In the whole entire earth"
Seriously made my job worth every second hearing that!

Mupflup · 03/02/2018 21:16

Years ago one of my friends after a night out said to everyone 'everyone needs a mupflup'. That was 20+ years ago and it still makes me feel good

JaneEyre70 · 03/02/2018 21:20

I had a family get together ages ago, and my aunt (my dads sister) was there that I don't see very much. She had photos of their mum and was fondly remembering her as the family matriarch, and said how beautifully I had stepped into her shoes with my DDs and grandkids. Made me feel quite teary.

parttimebarstaff · 03/02/2018 21:21

My DS1 is 17 and going through a difficult time with anxiety and panic attacks - he told me he didn't know what he would do without me and DS who is two told me he missed me after working late one night.

ShotsFired · 03/02/2018 21:22

I once asked OH what his favourite thing about me was.

Without hesitating, he said "your intelligence", and went on to say how he liked that I just knew so much stuff and how I would always give an intelligent and considered response to a question.

It was just unexpected and clearly showed me he values me as a whole person, IYSWIM?

Shockers · 03/02/2018 21:24

Every single day, the little boys in my class say wonderful things. There are five of them (no girls) and they are all small, but incredible, human beings.

Once, in my twenties, an elderly lady stopped me in the street and told me I was, ‘as pretty as a picture’. That gave me a lovely boost!

Bluntness100 · 03/02/2018 21:26

My daughter saying she loves me.

She also has a knack with birthday and Xmas cards. I'm sure she writes them and only feels the job is done if I cry, it's always "you're the best mum in the world, I'm so lucky to have you, I don't know what I'd do without you"kind of stuff. And yup, I always cry. 🤣

Fintress · 03/02/2018 21:28

My friend's 4 year old daughter told me she loved me, I was part of her family.

DandelionAndBedrock · 03/02/2018 21:30

Someone who we met on holiday (total strangers, but used to see each other in the bar without meaning to) told me in a drunken whisper "you should see the way MrDandelion smiles at you when you're talking and he thinks you aren't looking."

That was 5 years ago and it still makes me smile.

Scabetty · 03/02/2018 21:33

When my new boss told me I was a breath of fresh air.

MrsMcW · 03/02/2018 21:34

This is a lovely thread Smile

A complete stranger once came up to me in a shop and told me that I was perfect and not to change anything about myself. He then walked away again before I could say anything - not even a thank you. Have no idea what prompted him but I've never forgotten it.

Corcra · 03/02/2018 21:47

Lovely reading those 💗💗
I took a job while I was doing a course so I thought I wasn't giving as much as I normally do. But my boss at the time said "if all staff could be like you.. I wish I could clone you". I was beaming.
The compliments my daughters give me though.. Nothing beats the feeling when they tell me they feel lucky to have a mammy like me. 😊💗💗 that's everything.

Hotdoggity · 03/02/2018 21:49

A kid in my reception class once wrote a little note for my (then) unborn baby telling her that she had the best mummy in the world.

Offred · 03/02/2018 21:51

My best friend’s 13 year old daughter said ‘Mum, I don’t know what we would do without offred. She is the only person who is always there for us when we need it. She always helps no matter what the problem is’

That melted my heart.

coffeeX10 · 03/02/2018 21:53

Dandelion that’s lovely ❤️

I have a few, one of my friends told me I’m an empath and beautiful inside. My 2yo dd tells me she loves me and I’m her best friend. And when my dh tells me he’s proud of the mother I am.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 03/02/2018 21:54

I was told I 'make it look easy' at a party. The making it look easy was being a mum to my three children all under age 5 at the time. There was a group saying how well turned out myself and the kids always are and that I manage them so calmly and how polite they are. It absolutely made my day and I always remember it.

They obviously don't see the stress and mess that is everyday but I'm still taking it!!

LittleCandle · 03/02/2018 21:55

A lady in my shop the other day told me that I am a very interesting person and she would love to have all day to chat to me!

Greenteandchives · 03/02/2018 21:56

A patient’s husband once told me that I had helped them out of a dark place in their lives. I was 😢.

ozymandiusking · 03/02/2018 21:58

My osteopath's receptionist once said, " Ozy you always look so lovely"
It really made my day.
