Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Hello

Hope the skip is full Selena and the unicorn sounds painful book. Willow I sold some bits on the other side, but not for a long time now.

We did town and gardening and baking.

Willow2017 · 14/10/2017 17:44

OMG! I am aching all over my neck and back are screaming abuse at me😀 my easing in shift turned into 6 hours! Washing dishes in the lowest sink possible humping crates of crockery into sterilizer delivering a million played of good etc. I am shattered and wondering if I will be able to move tomorrow never mind do another shift!

Hope the skip is filling up Selena
Hope rain stayed awsy for the allotment Book.
Cake you have been busy too as usual. Dh feeling better?
Now need to cook tea and may be a glass of wine to help me along. I reckon I will be flaked out by 7😁😁

Willow2017 · 14/10/2017 17:45

Plates of food!!!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 14/10/2017 19:02

Well done willow, such a physical job!

Wine
SelenaValentina · 14/10/2017 19:07

Ow, willow, good hot bath, glass of wine then hot chocolate might help? Did it go all right apart from being shattered, though, people friendly?

Cleared itself out today, but warm - however, tortoise has dug herself in which usually means cold weather is nigh. Sad

Skip 3/4 full, so I'm going to (try and) dig up some energy tomorrow and get going again, although can tell I've worked hard today! Not sure whether to ask them to pick up and renew yet.

Have a restful evening, sounds as though we've all earned Wine Brew Cake

Chasingsquirrels · 14/10/2017 19:08

Sounds a physical day Willow, how did you feel about it? Maybe too early to say.

Unicorn sounds interesting book.

Just watched GBBO and now watching 2nd half of Gardeners World.

Met up with retired partner from work & his wife this morning. He'd been a partner when John joined which I think was late 80's and retired about 4 years ago. So that was nice.

Then went into town and picked up my contact lenses and a few bits. Then Tesco.

Boys home early and ds2 has made fudge - with some assistance. Split the mix into two and we have salted chocolate which is nice and pistachio and white chocolate which is VERY nice.

Horsemad · 14/10/2017 19:30

Glad it went well Willow but make sure you take it easy now Smile

Busy day Selena and book, good weather always helps!

And chasing, your DS is fab making fudge - wish mine would!!

I had a nice day and am now watching Strictly.

Willow2017 · 14/10/2017 19:42

Oooh Squirrels pass the fudge its not good for you at all😉

I am not quite sure yet! I am expecting neck and back to complain but hopefully will get used to it. I will be gutted if it siezes up again. Only 3 of us there and was a particularly busy saturday apparently. But I like to be busy time passes quicker. Women were ok friendly and helpful, one a bit techy by end but then I had no idea of the clean up procedure for closing up or where all extra stuff they were bringing to wash went so had to keep asking! and there were still diners who were not taking the hint! But it will get easier of course. Felt a bit strange to be shouting out our numbers to all those diners as I am quite shy but will get used to it am sure.

Will have to cook something for kids tea ready for tomorrow for them to hear up. Had gammon steaks tonight easy for me😀

Hopefully they will sort out a Rota so I can get organised in advance. I really don't want to be just filling in shifts as needed. Told them I need 16hrs plus.

Sounds like a nice morning and you have been busy filling that skip.

bookbook · 14/10/2017 20:45

I have just finished watching strictly too :)
Willow - gosh, that was being thrown in at the deep end- hopefully you will sleep tonight , and not be too stiff tomorrow. .
Selena - the skip is three quarters full? Are the neighbours putting stuff in too? Grin. I bet you are stiff too.
Chasing - fudge sounds amazing - I am now officially into salted caramel - I never realised how nice it was , so salted chocolate will be given a go now!
Yes, had a good day, it does help when the weather is good .
Unicorn is actually to attach onto a Woolly Hug Kinship blanket , for a little girl who loves unicorns, so I was trying to do the best unicorn I could.
Right, off to knit now

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 15/10/2017 07:46

Morning all

Nothing like a 5:30 start on a Sunday morning Hmm

We're off out this morning and then I need to clean and organise for the week. It's going to be long and busy one. 2 more first aid sessions, assemblies at school, bake sale etc

Hope all the grafters can move this morning!

Anyone expecting the storm? We're just meant to have very warm weather today and tomorrow.

Check in this evening x

bookbook · 15/10/2017 08:22

Morning all
Cake - you poor thing - 5.30 Shock.
It is supposed to get really windy tomorrow afternoon into evening here - just as I go to pick DGS up from school.
Off to the allotment this morning, then I need to make a cake this afternoon. Everyone for tea tonight , and its my DD2's partners 'birthday tea' , so need to sort that. Other than that, nothing planned for today.
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 15/10/2017 11:27

HI all.

I can move! Was up at 8.30 surprisingly.

Windy here and very cloudy. Rain not far off.

Need to get ironing done and prep the kids for tea. Have a list of jobs for them to do to get themselves organised for school and tonight.

Need to get stuff organised for packed lunches too.

Cake ouch thats way too early. Dont overdo it today!

Book hope the rain stays away for the allotment stint. Enjoy the birthday tea.

Thinking of Juan as usual today.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 15/10/2017 18:36

Hi all. Just about to do bedtime with DS and then a jog and shower. Looking forward to then sitting on the sofa with a packet of biscuits after Blush

Have sent Juan a little message to say we're all thinking of her. She had her 2nd counselling on Friday.

Hope the new regime will be ok Willow are you going to be doing any volunteering as well this week???

book I hope you have a lovely tea and cake

squirrel how much fudge us left? Grin

horse I bet you're counting the days till DS comes to visit.

Tomorrow is going to be an insane day so have tried to be organised with house tidy, everything set out ready and an easy tea. Catch you when I can.
X

Willow2017 · 15/10/2017 20:44

Evening all.
Survived another day. Still don't know anything apart from it will probably be just weekend shifts! Been told by the other staff to phone certain day next week and pin the person down to a definate rota. Tbh I am in so much pain in my neck and back I could cry. At least i should lose weight with all the work and not eating😉 Couldn't wait to get out the door tonight. Those sinks are killing me and sone of the other staff seem to be adept at dodging most of the dishes😉 must get more assertive next week.

Will do the volunteering but will have to see what my hours are if i can continue.
Hope everyone is having a nice evening. Enjoy your biccies Cake.

Horsemad · 15/10/2017 21:03

Oh Willow, that sounds painful Sad

SelenaValentina · 15/10/2017 21:25

Oooh, Willow, those sinks sound awful. Is there a washing up bowl - so you could put something under to lift it up a bit?

Skip nearly full, I've cleared out a load of stuff including DH's underwear and pyjamas - oh, I could smell him again Sad, but kept several sweaters/fleeces so not totally lost. Hope wind doesn't get up too strongly otherwise be all down the road!

Let's hope this week is a good one for everyone. Brew Cake Smile.

Anyone know what the glitter ball is supposed to represent? Party, celebration? Am I showing my age Blush.

Horsemad · 15/10/2017 21:38

Is the glittery ball for Strictly Selena?

Willow2017 · 15/10/2017 21:58

Selena
No, there is a 'system' the really dirty plates are not put in the sink with the hot soapy water! (they are big on conserving hot water, tbh the 'washing up water' doesnt get changed as much as I would like and makes me a bit squeamish sometimes but the stuff does get strerilized) They are splashed with water from that sink and scrubbed in the other sink first then a quick wash in other sink before going in the racks and lugged into the sterilizer. I dont know why they are so low, they are huge sinks and deep for all the big stuff I suppose but they could still have been higher up with room for the big cooking pots and stuff. Whoever designed them didnt think about people bending over them for hours on end thats for sure.

I think I will keep looking for other jobs and just carry on till then. Beggars cant be choosers Smile

SelenaValentina · 15/10/2017 22:26

Ah. All explained, both Horse and Willow thank you.

Some Belfast (or whatever they're called, old fashioned and hard to clean seems to me!!) sinks feel low down so obviously didn't feature on my kitchen dream list!

bookbook · 15/10/2017 22:38

Evening all
just put the crotchet down
You are obviously not a fan of SCD then Selena - Tough day getting rid of stuff by sounds , horrible job sorting out very 'personal' things .
Willow - poor you, it sounds a really bad set up tbh. I hope you can find something else soon. In the meantime , some anti- inflammatories before bed may be a good idea. Take care
Cake I suspect you may have already gone to bed - I bet you are dead on your feet. Hope DS allows you a little longer in bed in the morning.
Glad you are able to let Juan know we are still thinking of her.
Chasing - hope you are okay.
This afternoon was lovely, still have some cake left too :)
Tomorrow workmen coming back to sort out the step outside the new doors - here for two days. So up and dressed early tomorrow. DH is staying to keep an eye get in the way lend a hand, so off to pick DGS up alone. So I am going a bit early, and sorting out making a casserole for tea at DD's . It kills two birds - I don't worry about getting there in time, and I get tea made with no helping hands !
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Chasingsquirrels · 16/10/2017 08:14

Morning everyone.
So tired this morning, body just feels heavy, don't think I was too late to bed last night either.
Ugh - dark mornings.

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 16/10/2017 08:46

Boys off to school and I need to get showered and off to work.

Hope you aren't feeling too stiff this morning Willow, sounds like a bad set up but not much you can do about that so just see how it goes but not to the extent of your health.

Cake busy week for you, hope you get a little bit of down time for yourself.

Not much fudge left - ds1 and I both like the white chocolate & pistachio very much, ds2 prefers the salted chocolate. My "splitting the mix in half" before he added the flavours wasn't very even so we have much more of the pistachio one Grin.

Selena, clearing possessions is hard - no reason to keep them but just throwing them away is difficult. Ds1 had a load of John's socks! Most other things are still in drawers / wardrobe.

book have the workmen turned up on time?

OP posts:
bookbook · 16/10/2017 09:23

Morning all
Grey and rather dark this morning.
Dressed. load of washing in, and a text to tell me workmen on the way - should be here shortly :)
Need to get myself going - go and do a bit of shopping , post a couple of things and generally sort myself out.
The weather forecast is still saying we may get a lot of strong gusty wind after 6 tonight, so just to be on the safe side, I am going to pack an overnight bag . If its horrible I will stay at DD's - I don't fancy the drive home if its very windy .
Right - go and put the kettle on - the will want coffee when they arrive I'm guessing Grin - - they arrived while I was typing!!
Hope everyone has a good day, and Willow - not too stiff and uncomfortable

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 16/10/2017 10:45

hugs to you all - seems like you need it.

5:30 start but so far so good.
x

Willow2017 · 16/10/2017 15:17

Afternoon all.

What a strange day! Wet and dull, cloudy this morning. Went off to town to get my coffee and read of my book before doing the shopping. Bit rainy when I went into cafe but nothing much. When I headed for the door to leave it was dark! Thought I must have slipped into a time warp! Looked like it was about 7pm! Very foggy on way home and still is.

Prices seem to have rocketed, spent a lot more than usual today and nothing expensive or extra in trolley.

Kids back to school, nightmare mornings again Sad Discovered last night that the 'lunch box juice' was gone and so were most of the crisps so none thad ds1 liked left, cue mad dash to local shop to get some on way to school as I had to take them this morning.

SHoulders, neck, arms and hands aching today probably all that scrubbing of dirty plates Smile Will have to see how it goes, hopefully it will get better. Got paid yesterday so thats good plus a little extra for staying on on Saturday to help them out which was nice of them.

Book hope the workmen are finished and all went fine.

Cake oh my 5.30 again! dont know how you cope all day.

Squirrels that fudge sounds lovely. Stop talking about it! I am hoping all the 'exercise' will help shift the weight, am trying to eat less rubbish from now on too.

Hope the winds forcasted miss you all, it looks awful in Ireland.
