i have just found out that my mum has booked a holiday in disneyland paris for myself and my 2 daughters as well as her and my dad, i have had a bit of a hard time with my husband the last little while so my mum spur of the moment books a holiday for us all!!!

im very gratefull and think the world of her and my dad but its for july and i am stressing already about how i will get enough money together, they are paying for the villa and they are taking there own car and said they will pay all the deisel and the ferry, i just have to share the driving with my dad which is not a problem as i love driving, but i will still need spending money for the three of us.

i know that my mum will offer to pay for everything, disney passes etc but this makes me feel really embarrased, i have always been independent when it comes to money only problem is i like the nice things in life so all the money i have i spend i save for a while then blow the lot in one go so just now my savings account is zero.

its one week we are going for, does anyone have any idea of how much spending money approx i should think about trying to save between then and now, i know this is as usefull as asking how long is a bit of string but any ideas would be great.

p.s for anyone that seen my other thread its not a deliberate attempt to be nasty to my husband that he is not coming, he is out the country at the time.

People like doing nice things especially as its your mum . I dont know how much you should save when we went 3yrs ago it cost a bomb I am sure others could tell you if they have been recently . One money saving tip I would strongly suggest is saying the kids can have a present at the end of the trip and not before .

My mum is like that. She takes me for my food shopping as i dont have a car and she nearly always pays for it before i get a chance to. Im really grateful but it does make me embassarased as well.
With regards to your spending money:
Me and dp went to disneyland paris 2 years ago and tbh once you've got your passes you dont need much money once your in the parks.
Obviously you'd need money for food and stuff but i didnt think that it was too expensive. Theres loads of shops so the kids will probably want sweets, toys etc but you can always save treats for the end of the holiday when you know how much money you've got left.

You have treated your parents by being a lovely daughter and by giving them lovely grandchildren. When your girls are older you'll be able to treat them in the same way. In the same way that violence breeds violence (sad but often too true) then niceness breeds niceness. Its a wonderful legacy so enjoy it as much as you can.
Enjoy your holiday that's all your parents will really want.

mistypeaks- that is such a lovely way to look at it, although after spending a whole week with the three of us they might not think we are so lovely
