Dh's little guys really really stink to the point where even a shower makes no difference.

Changed name for this, but dh knows I'm posting because he's mortified by this too.

I'm not sure if it's related to something he's eaten but even after a shower, for a long time after having had sex, my girly bits and clothing really pong of very stale sperm.

It's getting to the stage where I would rather he used a condom to minimise any "leftovers" IYSWIM or ideally just not have sex at all. I'm left stinking for a couple of days afterwards and often the odour is so strong that dh can smell it too if he's next to me. It's not just a personal smell.

I've been using Femfresh shower gel and wipes but it's not helping.

Tell me it's all his fault and tell me there's something that can be done??

You may have an infection, other than thrush but not a sexually related one, think its called bacterial vaginosis.
Get down to your GP and tell them your smelly and want a swab.

JOSIE3 · 19/03/2007 19:15

Do his bits smell too?

lilymolly · 19/03/2007 19:19

Sounds like an infection to me, I would ask for a vaginal swab, and dh to be swabbed too.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 19/03/2007 19:23

Sounds like you could both have an infection of some sorts.

Cannot believe you have used smaland as a nickname....it will be forever imprinted on my memory when I go to visit Ikea........

smaland · 19/03/2007 19:26

Great - so it's not dh's fault.

Would I just see the nurse do you think or would it have to be the GP?

I think you need to see your GP.
If its BV i don't think your dh needs to be treated, another cruel twist of being a woman!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 19/03/2007 20:37

You need to see your GP as this could be BV. That can cause the odour you describe.

morningpaper · 19/03/2007 20:38

yep, go and both get thoroughly tested for any nasties

AitchYouBerk · 19/03/2007 20:43

BV shouldn't be left untreated, so go and get it checked out. to be clear, though, you didn't 'catch' it, it's basically an imbalance of the good bacteria and bad bacteria (putting it in its most simplest terms) in you fanjolele. i got it after being given methotrexate, a really powerful drug, and i just thing that i went totally our of whack afterwards. the first thing i knew about it was that after sex it smelled like a mackerel had swum up there and died... yum.

An imbalance of bacteria?

Can I blame the Actimel?

smaland · 19/03/2007 23:02

just wondering ,if it was bv ,wouldnt it be present all the time and not just after sex? does the smell go away after a few days and only return when youve had sex? even so go to gp

sauce · 20/03/2007 07:57

Are you from Smaland? Not Swedish by any chance, are you?

Joking aside, is this a recent problem? If so, then you prob have thrush.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldinghands · 20/03/2007 08:51

Thrush isn't really a smelly infection as such though is it?

meeeeow · 20/03/2007 09:06

thrush is a rash and not very nice. He / you would know if you had it, he would be itching like mad!

AitchYouBerk · 20/03/2007 13:07

no, it's the sex that makes the BV smell... that's one of the ways they diagnose it. 'and what do you smell like after sex, mrs Aitch?' 'chanel no 5 and rotten fish, doctor, why do you ask?'

and no, i don't think you can blame the actimel unless you've been using it as a douche.
