Mini break alone - anyone done this and what's it like?

I want to do this despite having a friend I could probably drag along.

But I have a fear of feeling totally lonely especially at dinner time. I wouldn't be 'traveling' as I only have weekends/long weekends to do this.

What's it like?

I do solo breaks twice a year. My preference now is AirBNB, main meal at lunch, an evening event (gallery, theatre etc) then a late supper back at home, or a takeaway.

Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Barcelona and New York are perfect for solo travellers, I recommend Copenhagen for first timers (safe, friendly, lots to do, easy travelling, everyone speaks English).

I did it for 6 days in a few places in England I didn't know. I just travelled around anonymously, the places were'nt particular glamerous, but they were places I had a hankering to see.

At times it felt like a pilgrimmage for some reason (the main reason people used to travel in the previous centuries).

Yeah loved it.
