I know what you mean, when I met DP I was so used to being independent that I wouldn't let him help, or do anything. Eventually he showed me that that's not how it had to be, and it's great. I realised that even though I'd been married to DS dad, I'd been on my own from the get go. Loads of mums at nursery want to take DP home with them Grin

skyyequake · 17/10/2016 16:48

Lol if he fancies a holiday he can come here and help me out Wink Grin

I think if anyone else I got in a relationship with started to help I'd be like "W-what are you doing?" Confused

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 17/10/2016 16:49

That's exactly what I was like! I'd lived on my own with DS so long I was like "eh what are you doing?" It took him a while to get me to let him do stuff too. Now I'm just like, fuck it, you do it Grin

ayeokthen · 17/10/2016 16:50

Haha he'd probably be glad of the break from me 😂

skyyequake · 17/10/2016 17:06

I doubt that he sounds fairly smitten with you Grin

Yeah its going to be a great leap, relinquishing control on stuff when the time comes. I'm worried people will think I'm a control freak and I'll have to try and explain, no I've just had to do everything and have become very used to it 😂

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 17/10/2016 17:08

I think he's just resigned to the fact he's stuck with me now 😂 5 years in there's no escape Grin
Nah, you'll be fine. It's not an easy thing to go from being completely self sufficient to realising you're half of a team, especially if you've never had it before (I hadn't). I reckon you're pretty switched on, so anyone you did meet would have to be pretty awesome to catch your eye in the first place Grin if there's one thing getting rid of a twat teaches you, it's that you can spot the fuckers a mile off in future Grin

GabsAlot · 18/10/2016 00:30

Haha that sums me up too Skyye
As an aside, I'd never heard the word "cuntpuffin" before MN and my mum and dad just brought the kids a load of puffin themed pressies back from their holiday. I was helpless laughing, I mean howling, and couldn't explain why! Oh the shame Blush

skyyequake · 18/10/2016 12:30

Haha I haven't heard that one aye that's brilliant 😂

I've just given DD some avocado and she wolfed it down! Won't eat pasta or chicken nuggets but avocado is fine... How did I produce such a middle-class child?? Grin

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 12:35

One of the first threads I read on here was unusual insults, I thought having an ex squaddie for a DP I'd heard them all but apparently not! I can't even cope with all the puffin paraphernalia all over the house now without snorting laughing. I'm such a weirdo!
Avocado Grin she's a classy girl! I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do with an avocado! It's meant to be really good though, it's great she'll eat it! You just need to get her a set of pearls to clutch and she'll be one of us in no time Grin DD has a little set and they set me off chuckling too. I'm actually not normal!

skyyequake · 18/10/2016 12:48

Haha I'm pretty sure she'd end up chewing them rather than clutching Grin

I'd just made myself a cheese and avocado wrap because I felt guilt for eating a huge packet of crisps last night and gave her a few of the leftover slices. It was her first ever food because I read that it was quite easy for them to eat. I have a great picture of her at 6 months, big smiles, with her face covered in green Grin it was lucky she liked it as she's only just stopped turning her nose up at banana (thanks to the wonderful people at the Freedom creche) we haven't had it for a while because its expensive but I buy it as a treat for us every now and then!

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 12:51

I'll have to try it, I've always been embarrassed to ask what to do with it before. It's great that she's trying new foods too, my DD is the worlds fussiest eager but I just keep trying new things without making a big thing of it and she's getting much better. She's tiny (not underweight) yet both her brothers are solid. Her wee brother is 11 months younger and is taller with bigger feet, yet she's really dainty. It's ironic really because she's the fiercest of them all Grin

skyyequake · 18/10/2016 13:07

Its nice in wraps, or if you want to go really middle class then try it with cream cheese on Ryvita, or not so middle class just bung it on some toast Grin

DD is very solid... She's not chubby she's just broad and tall! When she was a year she towered over a little 15 month old boy in the park. Now she's 15 months and she's the same size as a little girl in the creche who's 18 months!

She does eat a lot. She has two slices of toast for breakfast, or one slice and a full size banana. She'll eat a whole sandwich for lunch with those puffs you can get for little ones or fruit, and a yoghurt, and then she'll have a decent size dinner in the evening and a rusk before bed. Plus she usually has a snack between lunch and dinner like a breadstick and grapes... And she still drinks two ten oz bottles of cows milk at night. Last night she had three...

ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 13:50

Ooh I might go full middle class for my first attempt! That sounds tasty Grin my mum and dad always have Ryvita so I'll pinch some of theirs Grin

ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 13:51

That's great that your DD will eat like that, my boys will but DD is just not a big eater. I've had her checked over and she's in the 45th percentile so they're not worried, she's just naturally petite (DPs late mum was petite too).

skyyequake · 18/10/2016 14:05

aww nothing wrong with petite Smile The little girl at the creche is petite, it's very odd to see them together, because you can tell DD is younger because her features and movements make it obvious, but she's the same height and much chunkier than the 18 month old... It's like putting the puppy version of a big dog next to the fully grown version of a small dog, they're the same size but very different lol Grin the little girl is built like a ballerina whereas DD looks more like a rugby player with the personality to match

OP posts:
skyyequake · 18/10/2016 14:43

oh and another avocado dish that I had a while ago and liked will have to make again soon is fry up some mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and spinach and then chuck them in a wrap with some avocado... Yummy and reasonably healthy Grin

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 15:00

Ooh take out the mushrooms and that sounds lovely!

skyyequake · 18/10/2016 15:27

Shock you don't like mushrooms??? I've never understood that... What is there not to like???

OP posts:
ayeokthen · 18/10/2016 15:32

Aw I hate the smell, the texture, the taste all of it Confused DP loves them though!
