Valentine's Day

I would really like to do something nice for dp on Valentine's Day. We don't like to spend money on it, although we get each other cards, but this year I would like to do something to show him how much I love him [sick emoticon]. I cooked him a lovely dinner last year so any different suggestions would be appreciated.

What about a handmade card, and 'DP Night'- you cook him whatever his favourite meal is, he picks what film/TV you watch etc. Cheap and cheerful!

Or a radio dedication- get them to play a song for him.

and there's a website that personalises cards....'remind4U'

You can have his name on the card, or a poem you could make up for him.

What about bringing lunch to his office?

Love/sex/chore vouchers?

You can personalise them so that they suit your particular relationship/circumstances

Thanks for your suggestions.

I've realised that I'm ata teaching day that day which is located quite conveniently for the shops so I think that I will buy us some nice treats from M&S food hall/deli counter.

Some personal vouchers would be nice too!

For our 1 year anniversary, I wanted to do something special for my dp.

I didn't have a bean so I wrote him a poem (more humorous than loved up) and then I gave him a balloon on which I'd written 'Happy Anniversary, put the stereo on, track 1'.

It was a really special song to both of us and he really loved it

For Valentine's Day this year I am making him heart shaped shortbread biscuits (of the Miaou's lovely recipe ) and I'm sneaking them into his sandwich box. Then I'll give him a box of Duck Eggs which I'll decorate with hearts, when he comes over in the evening.

I get really excited by doing stuff like that.

I'm going to set out a picnic dinner on our living room floor once DS is in bed, so lots of picky bits of food, champagne, a scrumptious dessert, candles and music.

Don't know what he's planning for me LOL!!!

last year we had just moved into our house, we had no furniture, i was pregnant and we had no heating. we ate chicken and bread on our living room floor.

This year i'm having steak cooked for me, and all the heating i want! Yay!
