All I get is one two words with no kiss or anything at the end. I will be honest it does make me smile as he is quite affectionate face to face but I am curious if this is a man thing?

It depends on what he's doing. He still has an old Nokia, so he has to press each button several times to get the right letter (he hates modern technology).

Sometimes I get a "love" at the end but mostly it is just to the point and brief. He is very affectionate.

Niklepic · 06/07/2016 15:24

Yesterday's conversation his spelling makes me wince We're not generally a lovey dovey couple.

Texts, what are yours like from your dp/dh?
Oblomov16 · 06/07/2016 15:45

Quiver : Some if these are "cold"
Shock

Err, no they aren't. Some of them are practical, some are informative, some are funny.

Dh and I do all of the above. And sexy and Wink sometimes.

But I don't to kisses. No xxxx from me.
And I don't like "Hun"! From girl'friends' either. Just Sayin.

Marmaladeday · 06/07/2016 16:01

My DH is a terrible over kisser. Texts about bread with 7 or 8 kisses. I am a 2 kisses woman rain or shine. Each to his own though.

OlennasWimple · 06/07/2016 16:06

DH - short and factual

DS - gushing and needy

Vagabond · 06/07/2016 16:08

I like texts throughout the day - always with kisses or silly emoticons. And we're old!

I would find a text with no kisses or salutations quite cold. Like dealing with my builder.

Each to their own. The texts I share with DH during the day are little highlights. I don't think I'd much like getting a text saying: "don't forget the carrots" without a little kiss at the end. I'd just feel like ramming the carrot somewhere else......

Question for peeps who don't use kisses in texts with DH: do you kiss when you see each other at the end of the day? Kiss good night?

RingUpRingRingDown · 06/07/2016 16:34

Brusque

'Meter readings?'
'Phoned vet yet?'
'Flight delayed'

99% are 'helpful' reminders of things he thinks I ought to do and might forget (I don't).

RingUpRingRingDown · 06/07/2016 16:34

I fill mine with emojis just to annoy him

DrMorbius · 06/07/2016 16:41

Mine are similar to RingUpRingRingDown's DH.

MrsMorbius goes mad when I forget to put Love or XX on birthday/Christmas cards.

DrMorbius · 06/07/2016 16:42

Also I am not sure if I have ever sent the first text. I only reply to texts.

Kennington · 06/07/2016 16:45

Non existent

EskSmith · 06/07/2016 18:25

Aquifer, don't be sad, dh & I get in plenty of kisses in person, just don't feel the need to constantly reaffirm during our busy working day. If I want to connect with my dh when we are apart I will call and speak to him, text & email purely for practical stuff, that's the way we (and by the look of it) others on the thread work. Quite offended by you 'feeling sorry for me' Tbh.

coldcanary · 06/07/2016 18:28

Occasional kisses but we're both usually short and to the point when texting. Even the occasional 'love you' is just that! Grin

maggiethemagpie · 06/07/2016 19:19

We used to have a little symbol we made up when we were first dating which was two smiley faces in the middle of brackets like this ((((00)))) which meant hug, don't do it so much now we live together.

Usually texts are functional but both put a kiss on the end

Flacidunicorn · 06/07/2016 19:24

Her: "im working monday, 3-8, tue 2-8, wed, 3-9, of thur n fri. Xx"
Me: "ok my love, we'll have to have a look at going out on thursday or friday then. Charity shopping, pub, park, whatever you fancy :) xx"
Her: "yeah ok xx"
Me: "or we could do all 3, park in the morning, pub lunch, shopping in the afternoon :) xx"
Her: "sounds like a plan xx"

We always have the xx at the end and have even sent a seperate txt when weve forgotten them, we're sad though.

insan1tyscartching · 06/07/2016 19:36

I have to decipher dh's texts because he has predictive text on and doesn't know how to alter it. Last night's said "egging racist" which I later learned was supposed to say "fecking racist" about someone he met whilst out with the dog.

OutToGetYou · 06/07/2016 20:12

Simple, to the point, no kisses, perfect spelling and punctuation. That's both of us.

Tabsicle · 06/07/2016 20:51

Definitely an individual thing. My DH doesn't text but sends facebook messages quite often - silly little lovehearts, affectionate messages, checking I'm ok, sometimes photos of what he's seen while out and about, and, yes, kisses.

I love getting messages from him.

LuluJakey1 · 06/07/2016 21:02

Last 3 from DH

I am so fucked off with work. On my way home- bout 20 mins.

Is DS still up?

Wild sex or the footie?

LuluJakey1 · 06/07/2016 21:03

I don't think I need to say it but the last one was a joke - he would never choose sex over a semi-final, or over any football actually.

BolshierAryaStark · 06/07/2016 21:29

Usually short & to the point, unless he or I are away-then they tend to be more lovey/dirty depending on the mood/length of time apart.

RivieraKid · 06/07/2016 21:29

Last three:

'It's going to be a long weekend without you xx'

'Missing you xxx'

'Wish I'd seen it x' (a huge fuck off Raven)

We're pretty affectionate via text most days I guess. Kisses, tell each other things we've seen, etc.

ExitPursuedByABear · 06/07/2016 21:35

DH always begins texts to me with my name, and signs off with his name.

Idiot.

Fomalhaut · 06/07/2016 21:47

Generally affectionate, often amusing. Much like the man himself.

FuzzyWizard · 06/07/2016 21:53

Haven't had a text from DP since February Grin
We use Facebook messenger a lot and mainly communicate using gifs and pictures of pusheen now. Blush
