Would you let your partner do this?

Me and OH have been together 4 years. We have a DS 1yo.

He has always liked gaming and other than work it's really his only social circle (he sees these people outside of gaming too but it's the thing that connects them all iyswim)

The PC is in our bedroom (only place it will really work out properly) but he plays this game loudly talking over mic from about 9pm-1/2am. Meaning I have moved into the spare room to get sleep.

In all other ways he's a fantastic father and partner but it's driving me mad. He feels like has compromised because we spend from 7pm-9pm together. It makes me feel really crappy that he doesn't care it's made me move rooms. (He refuses to sleep in the spare room because he doesn't like the bed Hmm)

What would you do?

So you can - we can all judge what the hell we like

NedStarksHead · 06/07/2016 16:34

Yeah that's not judgey that's just being an utter arsehole.

The fact you're so narrow minded & cunty about a group of people with a specific hobby says a lot more about you than us.

Us being smelly, selfish, adult-child gamers Hmm

Speak for yourself! I smell lovely Grin

Good luck with your chat, I feel really sorry for you. Don't let him make out you're selfish, no-one I know would put up with this...

Grin
WingDefence · 06/07/2016 18:13

But OP this isn't about where he is going to game, as others said its about him spending 4-5 hours a night, 6 nights a week, sometimes only 5 if you are lucky, on a hobby that excludes you.

Just because he is in the same building as you doesn't make it better than spending that same amount out of the house perusing another time intensive hobby.

Pursuing

My husband is a gamer - it's his downtime and he catches up with rl friends over it so social too.

PC is in the study. He'd be appalled at the idea of keeping me awake doing it. He loves his gaming but would be the first to say that hobbies take a back seat to family life.

Hobbies are great - but if they start to impinge on the rest of the family they need to be dialled back. That goes for gaming, golf, anything really - look how many women on here have a dh who buggers off a few nights a week and most weekends cycling or whatnot.

Ypu need your sleep. He needs to move his activity to somewhere it's not bothering you - tough if he doesn't like the bed!

Fomalhaut · 06/07/2016 18:20

Yes and it's not a gamer issue! My dh is a lovely, smart, professional guy who is devoted to his family. Gaming is great fun - the stereotype of nerds in basements is wrong and quite offensive!

As others have said, the problem is that he's being a twat.
