best beds for sex…?

Really quite confused. Trying to help my bf buy a new mattress, and I think that the 'sex' factor is pretty important - but it doesn't seem to be discussed in bed shops! I have a tempur mattress now, and I think it's great for sex. My boyfriend has never had one though and is thinking of getting a normal sprung mattress. (He's got memory foam where he is atm).
If it is springy (normal mattress), doesn't it just push you back (if he's on top?), but if the mattress has some resistance (i.e. memory foam), then it helps create a deeper push?
This is a serious question - but wasn't sure if it should go here or on the sex board?
Please any advice useful! Just too embarrassed to ask in the shops!

Yes, you are right. Bouncy beds are bad, make everything much harder work, especially when you're on top.

Memory foam or fairly hard springs with a memory foam top layer are the best beds for shagging IMO. And a solid frame.

Best mattress for sex is one with an attentive partner on it!

Bear in mind the frame also- a metal bed might be better for handcuff/tying up possibilities. Or a padded one if he goes to hard and pushes your head against it.. DO you want a footboard for tying feet too, or would you rather not so he can drag you to the end of the bed and have sex that way?

Drawers underneath where you can keep vibrators and the accessories?

I really can't believe this never even crossed my mind in the 20 odd years I've been having sex! I've never even once stopped to think ooh sex would be much better if we got a softer/harder/memory foam mattress...

I don't think it matters tbh. I will say that we have a memory foam and I do sort of sink into it but I don't think it makes a real difference it's just less...bouncy Blush

Have you tried a well sprung trampoline, OP? I think that will provide the firm resistance you seek.

A boyfriend who is considering getting a normal sprung mattress sounds very risky to me. LTB, he's going to bring nothing but trouble. Lazy git. Grin

MNHQ: One for Classics?

(Thinks sadly about the mehness of life post baby - and how DH and I would simply love to sleep for 1 month uninterrupted)

I can confirm that the mattresses in the Holiday Inn are crap for sex as we found out on a recent weekend away Grin
