Not sure where to put this so il put it here.
3 months ago I bought tickets for me and a friend to go see strictly come dancing and spent £140 on tickets.
I bought her the ticket and have been excited to go tonight.
Literally 5 minutes ago she's text saying "sorry not coming tonight, can't be bothered, not really my thing.
Why tell me after I've spent £140 and why leave it till the day of the concert.
It's too short notice for any of other friends to get babysitter as we need to leave at 5pm.
Luckily my dad who is 70 today said he will come with me otherwise I would of had to go alone.
I rang my friend and she didn't care ..basically said well I don't want to go,what do you want me to do.
I'm angry :-(

Yes I would've been hurt.
I am Envy of you though. It's a great lineup this year and Mel is meant to be a fab host.
I am glad your dad can go. I hope you have a lovely time.
Had your dad not have been able to go, I am sure one of the lovely ladies on the telly addicts strictly thread would have gladly gone/reimbursed you despite the short notice. I would have if I was still in the UK. Any Strictly fan is a friend I just haven't met yet!
Enjoy. Sure your dad will get something out of it, even if it is a Wine in the interval. Of such stuff memories are made.
Throw Anita a vote for me ;-)
I think your friend has been an arse, not for not liking the show nor for not wanting to go BUT for not having the bull'sbollocks to say so earlier. I had something so similar once...bought a friend a £40 ticket as a birthday surprise in 1989 so not cheap, and her face was men, but she came and enjoyed it more than the rest of us put together --I still thought she was an ungrateful sod at the time though but then I had done it without asking her so maybe she saw it as a gift for her forms really iyswim, still, ungrateful cah) Grin

What a cow

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 03/02/2016 17:29

Stupid autocorrect. That should have said meh (not men) and 'a gift for her for me'.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 03/02/2016 17:32

Oh, and to be clear, meant to say one of the strictly thread fans would have gone with you. Digital spy is another source of fandom (but maybe not for inviting a random, they are somewhat unique over there! Wink

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2016 17:36

Mel is a triumph Kimmy, i was a bit worried. Grin

KurriKurri · 03/02/2016 17:54

She sounds awful, I certainly wouldn't rely on her or pre pay anything for her ever again.

If she'd said earlier, I'd happily have come with you (even though I am a total stranger and could be a complete loon Grin)

Hope you and your dad have a great time though - it's supposed to be a brilliant show, everyone I have heard from who has been has loved it.

CheersMedea · 03/02/2016 18:07

till the day of the concert.

Is Strictly a concert???

To answer your question she is really rude and this would make me go insane with anger. Fine if you don't want to come, but what's the big deal about letting me know in good time so I can find someone who actually does want to go!!!

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 03/02/2016 18:07

sparkling I want her to go on the show, paired with Anton, and Sue paired with Jo but been not ready for same sex pairings yet. Shame really, Sue looks fab in a tux.

Kurri You're not one of those digital spy rabid jaypets, are you?! WinkGrin
Just joking, I think Jay is winning the tour hands down, isn't he? Not up to date with stats. Although I heard his own jaypet wig was a bit of a distraction in the jive.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 03/02/2016 18:08

Beeb not been. Anyone know how to switch off autocorrect on a kindle?!

CocktailQueen · 03/02/2016 18:09

More info needed! When did you get the tickets? Was she meant to pay you back? Did she agree to you buying the tickets? Why hasn't she paid you back yet? Did she seem keen up until today?

Horrendously rude and crap behaviour. Make sure you get your money back from her, and don't do anything with her again.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2016 18:21

I want her on the show too Kimmy. Replacing Tess. Wink

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2016 18:22

Tickets were bought 3 months ago Cocktail.

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 03/02/2016 18:25

So out if order. If me or my friends buy tickets for a show, we pay each other at the time.

I hope you've said she still owes you the money.

KurriKurri · 03/02/2016 18:29

Kimmy- I couldn't possibly comment - I may just have a thing for curly haired young men Grin

Mel would be fab on the TV show (as would Sue P I think - she is very musical)

But backing out of a commitment at the eleventh hour is incredibly rude. Anyway - I've been to shows with people (because they've asked me and wanted company) and although I think it might not be quite my cup of tea - I always end up enjoying it, live shows are a really fun night out.

vitaminC · 03/02/2016 18:30

I am a beautiful person. The comments for your help. I would have heard from other family members if anything had happened, I think. My stepkids are attending a big event in another major city today. I hope the security is tight. . . . . .

vitaminC · 03/02/2016 18:31

Erm, not sure what happened there. Posted on wrong thread. Sorry Blush

Resilience16 · 03/02/2016 20:01

Everything happens for a reason . You got to spend time with your dad on his 70th, and you also found out what an eejit your so called friend is!

Hope you had a great evening x
