Found condoms

Been married 5 years and have a one year old. OT works away a lot and found a packet of jokey leprechaun condoms in an overnight bag. He said he bought them for a mate. Not sure what to think. The fact that they're jokey ones means it's totally plausible. I know he fancies a girl in work but she's Muslim and can't see her straying. He's also very shy and it took him years to ask me out.

If you bought condoms for a friend they wouldn't end up in your wash bag.

LovelyFriend · 16/01/2016 06:48

It's what you tell your mum/head teacher etc when you're caught with drink/drugs etc as a teenager. "It's a friends/it's for a friend"!

Why didn't he give them to friend?
Why in washbag?
If they are for a friend are they joke condoms - tiny ones?

If not joke ones, your DP is buying and holding onto (not giving to friend) useable condoms.

Believeitornot · 16/01/2016 06:59

Why is it so bad that the dh told her he fancied someone else? I've seen other threads where people have suggested that when someone has a crush, to diffuse it they tell their partner.

Rethe condoms that's just weird and I would be questioning closely

Throwingshade · 16/01/2016 07:07

Furiosa Grin oh I did lol at that!

OP. You don't trust your partner and he's acting shady.

What do you want to do?

sije · 16/01/2016 07:13

"Meating up" It could catch on.

BlackCoffeeTime · 16/01/2016 07:17

As a bloke, I'd definitely buy joke condoms for a friend. In the same way my wife was given a packet of penis pasta (or an extremely phallic banana "stress toy") by her friends.

I would never buy novelty condoms that I was actually going to use, though - can't think of anything that might ruin the moment more!

Throwingshade · 16/01/2016 07:32

sije - it reminds me when people used to say 'hot meat injection' in the 80s. Gross!!!!!!!

Bambooshoots14 · 16/01/2016 08:07

He's told you he fancies someone else?! Not on at all. Maybe saying she's good looking etc but not fancying

Rella1965 · 16/01/2016 09:13

We have known each other since we were kids and know he had a thing for Asian girls. So what? We've been friends for 12 years before we were lovers. Yes I do trust him. I also told him I fancied a guy in work too but I would always be honest with him. We talk a lot.

OP posts:
Leelu6 · 16/01/2016 09:20

The thing is, OP, that you don't trust him. Or you would have thought nothing of the joke condoms.

Do you not get jealous of him fancying other girls and vice versa?

1DAD2KIDS · 16/01/2016 09:35

Possibly a posh wank and they where the only ones avaliable or in the vending machine or he was curious to see what they are like. Or maybe they were ment as a jokey for a freind based on the're comical brand name. These are all things to consider.

But on the ballence of probability this all sounds very suppious and on face value does not look good. But could be inocent. You know him better than any of us. So when you talk to him what do you think? Was he super defensive, what vibe did you get, did it feel like he was telling lies?

The only thing I will say is that I trusted my ex wife 100%. She was an excellent lier. I never in a million years though she would cheat on me. It's only after a catalogue of little things that didn't add up I started to doubt her. If your not sure give him the benifit of doubt for now but do some more digging. I my experience if he has been rumbled there's a good chance the pressure will lead to other mistakes.

DrMorbius · 16/01/2016 09:46

Bought them for his mate Wink Grin Smile, was he going to use them for his mate as well?

What a load of....

Blokes don't buy condoms for other blokes.
We have all seen jokey condoms before, so no bloke would buy them to "show his mate" (unless they are 14 yrs old).
Cheats use jokey condoms for the same reason as blokes who don't cheat. So they can get a sh**.

SongBird16 · 16/01/2016 10:01

I think I've seen this brand, they are usable condoms but sold as joke gifts. I think it says something like 'the leprechauns made me do it' on the packet.

Which friend did he buy them for? I think you would have to be pretty close mates, or going on a stag do, or have some sort of long-running in-joke that contextualised the gift. It is also odd that they were in his wash pack.

I also doubt that he bought them himself to use, you just wouldn't.

I think the most likely explanation is that someone bought them for him, but not a male colleague because that would be weird and he would have just told you that. It's a flirty gift from a female colleague, or maybe a male friend who suspects he's tempted to stray.

Rella1965 · 16/01/2016 10:22

He said they were for a mate. No stag do, no long running joke but his mate is a little crazy, but no contextual thing as you suggest.

I do trust him. I don't have a prob with him fancying another person. It's human, and would rather have him be honest, than him say I only have eyes for you which is total rubbish. I am not 18 anymore and neither is he. I do think imbalance there's a story behind them which he isn't telling me. If I was to stray and a guy brought out a pack of joke condoms it would definitely be a passion killer.

OP posts:
DrMorbius · 16/01/2016 10:45

I would be more inclined to believe that the joke was with a woman
I will bring you something back from my trip to Ireland, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

DrMorbius · 16/01/2016 10:51

I don't go for this^. Silly condoms have been around for years and years. Showing it to a bloke now, would get a meh^ by way of response (seen it all before). Whereas I believe this is something you would do with someone new. Someone you don't have much history wth and mostly not a bloke.

loveyoutothemoon · 16/01/2016 10:52

You trust him so why are you posting on here?!?!

Pipistrella · 16/01/2016 10:57

It's difficult to say, can you maybe get hold of his phone and have a swift look through?

Maybe that's not something you'd feel comfortable with so I understand if you didn't want to.

SoThatHappened · 16/01/2016 11:21

I know he fancies a girl in work but she's Muslim and can't see her straying.

You dont know many Muslims do you? They are people just like you and I.

Rella1965 · 16/01/2016 12:38

No I don't know many Muslims but as I said earlier I don't think she's even remotely interested in him. The fact that he told me about fancying her was not a surprise to me he's always liked Asian women. I've known him 30 years...

OP posts:
Rella1965 · 16/01/2016 12:39

Nothing in his phone I've had a look.

OP posts:
tb · 16/01/2016 12:42

If you want him to have the benefit of the doubt, could it be a Secret Santa present that's a bit off? Possibly from the office where he goes on business.

Only you are in a position to find out.

donajimena · 16/01/2016 12:43

I've just googled leprechaun condoms. Bit of a passion killer to say the least...

Catpants123 · 16/01/2016 12:44

If you trust him and you know him, and you don't mind him telling you he fancies other women, what's the problem?

Rella1965 · 16/01/2016 12:50

Because if you found your partner with condoms joke or otherwise you may feel you need to ask an independent persons opinion? Yes ?
