Sexist as hell behaviour of Brit men abroad

Whenever I go abroad recently it seems I see some male behaviour I wish I hadn't. Was in Prague last we. Lovely city, architecture etc. Maybe we got unlucky but there was at least 1 stag do on the plane over. We are talking about 30s and 40s guys not very young ones. Not far out of British airspace and the drink started to affect them. Loudness, overbearing behaviour to others and 2 of the a*holes reduced a stewardess to tears, I don't know what over. Had to leave a restaurant where my friend and I had been recommended when a large group of again fairly middle aged well to do British guys started behaving really really unpleasantly, drunken letches and spilling stuff on the floor etc. I'm not exactly loves young dream but the local girls got some pretty bad abuse Masquerading as "banter" or whatever these scumbags call it now. The men in Paris were horrid to be around for a woman, just awful, but the Brit ones are reserved here then just as bad if not worse when abroad. Why???????

Last year, I took MrsLH to Woolwich, where I was at Poly. It was a glorious summers day, and the square was filled with every colour, creed, nationality and religion. The world cup was on, and there was a big public screen in the square - it seemed every team had a gaggle of supporters, and the whole atmosphere was jovial, and relaxed. The only people that made MrsLH and I wary were some of the native Brits - very load, drunk, and shouting at random strangers. They were the only people approached by the police in 3 hours Sad.

It must be something in the water. The Romans noted the Brits were pissheads 2,000 years ago.

Gets even worse if you happen to share a flight or city with drunken football fans following their side abroad. I had the misfortune of being in barcelona when one of the Manchester sides were playing there. Jesus it was like stag do x 300.

Once I was on a party island in Greece (sometime in the mid 90s) and England and Germany were in the quarter final? or semi?
omg the hoo har the English lad kicked up, throwing beer cans at Germans' heads etc., it was soooo embarrassing.
On the other hand I spent a ver lively but good natured night in an Italian cafe in the company of Argentinians for the big Italy/Argentina match. The difference in vibe was stunning.

*English lads

it is also very annoying that we can't have a conversation about this issue without someone popping up super fast to say "the women do it to"

Errrrr but they do. My DSis was on a flight which diverted because of the behaviour of women on the flight, that frightened others!

it doesnt happen that often though does it shut?
Sorry but every interesting capital in Europe has been messed up for the normal Brit visitor by these packs of sex and booze crazed marauding animals that give us all a bad name.
Try a weekend in Krakow or Prague now and see what the locals will think of you!

Not much of an exaggeration. Shock

No one is saying it happens all the time, and shut didn't either but neither does the male scenario either.

Until very recently I used to travel all over the world, mostly Europe and I have witnessed bad behaviour from British men and women.

The type of behaviour may 'differ' but in my opinion each type of behaviour is as bad.

" Not much of an exaggeration "

no it is not.
Frankly it is embarrassing.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine.

Brits are really awful (and very, very racist) when they get together in this male only, pissed out of their heads, vom fest way

These types are all from a specific socio-demographic - they don't represent Brits in general, they don't even represent their own socio-demographic.

I only see them on the news - getting up to snuff in Benidorm or Aiya Nappa...

I do wonder what the hell the Spanish, Turkish, Cypriots, Greeks must think the UK is like on the basis of these louts. I feel very, very sorry for those countries.

Lots of examples of similar experiences. After the post about my Paris weekend ruined by street harassment I half was thinking about posting I was grateful to be living in London where men don't generally behave like that. And now this. I feel sick to my soul when I think of my DD possibly being on the receiving end. I really really wonder what are these men thinking? I mean really?
