What would you say constitutes a crush?

I was having a lively discussion today with a friend about what constitutes a crush. Admittedly I was probably slightly defensive because I was arguing that I don't have a crush on somebody, and she thinks I do.

So, if you had to define a crush, what would you say are the key features/feelings?

(I will come back and tell you what we were arguing about later - but I don't want to bias your answers!)

Actually, re-reading some posts I'm not sure - it isn't long distance, fantasy or fleeting (it's probably become stronger over time - I have had the sort that end abruptly when you actually get to know the person!).

Hero-worship maybe a little bit - I'm very grateful to him, so perhaps do tend to see his good side and overlook faults.

Interesting how all our ideas vary a bit.

Love is very interesting to think about though - when you think there's parental love, love in a family, love with a partner, you can love someone even if they don't love you back and that can be in a sexual or non-sexual way etc.

Polka, I wouldn't call this a crush. It's more a platonic love for someone, I'd say, like a loving a friend.

If you were just feeling some platonic cousin live, you wouldn't have started this thread. The conversation with your friend would have barely registered with you
