not sure what to do?
bil is getting married on 22nd dec, dh & i are going over for a meal nearby where inl's live (50 mins away)the night before with both sides of the family, then we'll be going over to inl's the next day in the morning so we can fit in ds sleep - wedding at 3pm.
although no plans have been made yet re xmas we were thinking of asking the inl's over for boxing day afternoon for xmas cake & glass/s of wine. They usually only stay a few hours when they call over to ours - as ds starts to get tired they make a hasty retreat!
(they will also be bringing with them 3 realtives who have been staying with them since 20th)& maybe the newly weds.
as we have already seen them prior to xmas we thought a short visit would be ok, or should i ask them over for a buffet at lunchtime, what do you think?
(my inl's are not the easiest of people to be around)

Sounds like you'll already be seeing lots of the in laws this holiday season what with the wedding and all.

Why don't you do as you planned - have in laws over for Boxing Day afternoon with the three relatives. If the newly weds crop up, then it's only cake and wine and not too much work for you. Invite them and pre-empt any ideas they might be cooking about Christmas Day. Tell them you're already busy on Christmas Day.

It's your holidays too, isn't it and you don't want to have to spend the whole time with other people. Nor do you want to set a precedent for future years whereby certain people expect to spend Christmas with you guys every time. This has happened to me and it's not nice to have to disappoint.

What about your mum and dad - are you seeing them at all?

yes we're seeing mine on xmas day as we saw the inl's last year.
we're planning on taking turns with xmas day to include us having xmas just as a family aswell.
i feel that we're seeing a lot of the inl's over xmas period too but needed to sound it out on here.
