Did I blow it out of proportion?

I had to go out this morning, I told DH that we needed a few things from the shop and could he walk across and get them...he said he would.

Anyway I got back about 3pm, saw that DH had been to the shop and had bought quite a bit more than I had asked him to including 2 big tins of roses for christmas meaning he must've gone to tesco (quite a long walk) rather than the local shop.

I wasn't bothered by this obviously, I just queried how he'd managed to carry it all home. He looked sheepish and said he'd decided to take the car for a spin.

I'm furious because the car isn't even insured and its MOT ran out last month! It's been 'off the road' until we can afford to get the insurance renewed and the MOT done and he's driven it without either.

I went mad at him, he said I was blowing it out of proportion as it was only a 5 minute drive. We're still not talking, am I blowing it out of proportion?

Well I would be peed off to. it may only be five minutes away but that is all it takes to have a crash or for something to hsppen to it while parked in Tesco's, it was stupid but don't fall out over it.

I would go mad about that too. The consequences if anything unfortunate had happened would be awful. It's not so much about him, but there are an awful lot of idiots on the road...

Mind you, I used to live in the US and in our town it was not uncommon for people to send their underage, non-driving children to the supermarket in the family Volvo, so clearly people have different standards on this sort of thing!
