Council House - put off?

Would a decent man be put off a woman because she lived on a rough council estate?

I've noticed that whenever I tell people where I live I try and cover up "the truth" by naming the nearest "private" road etc...I do feel a little ashamed telling people where I really live, because I'm on my own with 2 kids I seem to fit the stereotype of "council mum" .. I know it's daft etc!

Someone asked me today if I was worried about not meeting anyone decent as the area I lived in would put them off, I never thought of it this way before, do you think it would? (I would be working so it's not as if I'd be on benefits too completely fitting the stereotype!).

Basically

If they judge you on their address theyre not worth it.

Youll meet someone one day who likes you for you, not for your fecking postcode

Good luck

No.

And actually, consider it a good way of weeding out the chaff.

thai girl i used to live on the 2nd worst council estate in my county when i was growing up. i use dto get embarassed by people thinking i was "hard" for living there. it is a sad state of affairs that some people will always think the worst of you for your address but the people who are decent will realise that the your character is not dependent (sp?) on where you live but on how you live your life and partly on how you've been brought up. if people degrade you for where you live then they are not worth knowing. stop apologising for where you live (meant in the best way ) and concentrate on enjoying your life with your children. at the risk of sounding like my mother (RIP), you will meet someone who loves you for you. x
