Embarrassing dilemma

Wasn't sure where to put this but here goes...

I ordered an 'adult toy' over the internet two weeks ago and it hasn't arrived, instead a parcel arrived whilst I was at work for an address similar to mine.

The parcel is obviously not mine, this has happened before (the postie mixing up the addresses) and when this has happened I have taken the parcel to the other address and they have given me mine. The problem is every time this has happened the parcel has been returned to me open! I can just see it, me turning up with the parcel and the (very prim and proper, straight laced) woman in her 60's giving me that look and handing me my 'offending parcel'! A look that I know I will get every time I see her (she lives in the next street) from now on! I keep putting it off, I can't keep doing that but I am cringing just thinking about knocking on the door and her knowing what is in the parcel.

Do I try and overcome my embarrassment and knock on the door? Do I send hers back to the courier, telephone the catalogue and tell them I haven't received mine, and then avoid her like the plague? Telephoning the catalogue in itself is going to be very embarrassing, it?s not a sex toy catalogue btw, just your normal 'Kays' type. When I have telephoned them before its very often a young male who can hardly ask you the size of the bra you are ordering without sniggering whilst you cringe announcing you need a 34E... Maybe an email to them would be better; I could start it by saying "This is very frustrating but..." Lol

surely the woman wants her parcel and hse will realise whats happened?

if you hang on there she may come to your house

if hte parcel is open i would make a huge song and dance about it, be annoyed she is opening your parcels etc

or get dh to do it

GimmeTheVibe · 03/11/2006 09:51

DH doesn't know about it, it was supposed to be a suprise.

Maybe she is embarrassed as I am and has sent it back, maybe it will stop her from opening my parcels! I hadn't thought of it that way...

oh i would still get dh to go round

you dont have to tell him what it is

GimmeTheVibe · 03/11/2006 09:52

Or if next time I see her she has a huge grin on her face I'll know that she didn't send it back at all iykwim!

betcha shes kept it

GimmeTheVibe · 03/11/2006 09:56

Sending DH around would be a good idea, she might think it was him that ordered it and give him the looks instead of me!
