DH and I want to get something to (shall we say), liven things up, it's all got too staid and predictable, and all too infrequent.

I must admit to never having used a vibrator - I don't know if that's what I'm after, I want something we can both get some enjoyment out of.

My partner has discovered that his local pub sells vibrating dick rings in the gents (from a vending machine). Bless him, he is quite excited and going to get one. Trouble is they are £4 in pound coins and he is a bit worried someone might walk in while he is feeding the money in.

Sorry not much help. My advice is get a sex toy magazine and you can choose your toy without going to a seedy sex shop or going on line and getting a virus.

Cappuccino · 02/11/2006 20:55

you need to watch out for fattymumma

she knows everything about this

NomDePlume · 02/11/2006 20:56

hahahahahahaha callisto, that is the funniest post I've read in a long time

(sorry housemouse). There are LOADS of 'safe' sex toy sites (ie they are not run by dodgy Russian drug/people trafficking gangs that give you viruses as soon as look at you). Ann Summers is as good place to start as any.

I know, men are just too funny sometimes.

witchscatsmother · 02/11/2006 21:29

You can get vibrating cock rings in Sainsburys too.

I know because my 3 year old toddler pulled a load off the shelf on Saturday !

y advice would be to start with something like the Vibro ring. it is a soft silicone ring which stits at the base of the mans penis. it has a bullet on the top that vibrates.

the man will feel this vibration at the base of his penis but best of all every time he thrusts into you the bullet will brush against your clitoris. they are £18 from Ann Summers and the item i would recommend for a couple who are just starting to experiment with toys as you both get enjoyment from it.

alternativly you can just buy a simple clitoral stimulator like Whizz or pocket pleaser (both £12) they are both very typical looking vibrators that are about 4inches long. you simply hold them against your clitoris.

my own personal top tip for using these is try doggy style, whilst he is entering you (this is the best position for hitting the female G spot) you can use the vibe agianst your clitoris, this way you will hopefully reach a dual (both clitoral and internal) orgasm.

you can also use these types of vibrators on your partner....i'll let you use your imagination for that one.

have a look around the Ann Summers website, if there is anything you would like to order email me and i can get them at 10% OFF

Small is def better in my (limited) experience - they are not flesh and blood and therefore need to be more 'friendly' IYSWIM...

IMHO the rampant Rabbit platinum is the best item on the market at the moment. they have so far bought out two further models and the platinum is still way better than the newer versions.

If you are comfortable with using toys either alone or together then a rabbit is the way to go, but if your looking to start experimenting then your best to choose something smaller and cheaper as you dont know how you will feel about using it.

bizaarly enough i have met a couple of women who really hate the feel of a vibrator.
for those women i would advise something like pleasure gel or the new Durex sensations, they are packs of 5 different lubes that tingle/warm/cool/various flavours etc.

I saw the dick rings in Superdrug today.. they were £5.99 and made by Durex. Was quite intrigued.. was going to sling one in my basket next to the Christmas cards and tags.. but couldn't afford it. Next week...

What if they hold it up and yell down the shop for a price check? God, I'd die

BATtymumma · 02/11/2006 22:12

yeah Durex have bought out a couple of sex toys that are currently on sale in Sainsbury's, Boots and Ann Summers.

my own personal opinion is that they aren't that great to be honest.

the rings are very small and quite difficult to get on, they are not re-usable in that once the battery runs out you have to throw them away...they only last for about 15 minutes.

the Mini Gem is like a small Iron and is quite difficult to get into the correct position, too annoying.

the lubes are good though.

madamez · 02/11/2006 22:24

My recommendations are first of all some reading material, to give you ideas both for shopping and stuff you can just do with stuff that's lying around. There are loads of books but the majoirty are condescending and dumb, so check out any of the following magazines: Forum, For Women, Scarlet (all from newsagents) or Desire (subscription only or [email protected]).
Also, it's coming up to Erotica time so if you could get a babysitter and go either with DP or a mate - and if you have a few spare £ to spend - ideas, toys, outfits, reading material and probably a chocolate fountain or two.
Have fun...

Come on, we all saw your face when rummaging:

(hold for five minutes)

(hold for 2 seconds, make some noise if you like, but try and turn your mouth up a bit though).

(hold for several minutes until you fall asleep).

LOL

I bought a Rampant rabbit from Ann Summers and it changed my life!(don't want to appear in the ad tho.)

Bought it initially as a bit of a jokey thing, but then OH MY GOD, became obsessed with it. Obsession is more managable now, but it definely spiced DH and I sex life. Made me want sex more and we incorporated it into our sex. Was afraid DH would be jealous of my close bond and obsession with Rabbit but think he's just so glad I want all the sex.

Even now find myself having thoughts such as, 'imagine if there was a bomb/fire etc and became a refugee etc HOW WOULD I COPE WITHOUT MY RABBIT'!!! This sets me off into a right old panic so I have to control these thoughts with cognitive behaviour therapy. (only joking about the CBT obviously, the rest is true)
