Do they have a point?

I have a huge back garden which is wild, overgrown, full of heavy wood which I can't even pick up let alone move and general crap everywhere. When my ex lived here he didn't bother with it at all and it was all left to me to do which was impossible and shattering just trying (which I almost got sun stroke doing one year).

I have a big family who are pretty close and tend to help each other out when they can...one of my cousin is 24, he's married with his own house (which was given to him by his mother) and when he goes on holiday the family rush around cutting his grass etc for him and it really pisses me off when they know I'm here on my own and need help but never offer it. Their excuse used to be "why should we do it when he's sat on his arse not doing anything?" but surely they must realise that its me and the kids that suffer from this attitude and not him??

Do my family have a point or am I right to think they're out of order? Ex no longer lives here and still they don't offer to help.

I would start making some effort yourself, get all the rubbish out of the way, and see if they start to rally round, my friend was in the same situation and when she started doing things for herself everyone started to muck in

I would say to the family you have decided to blitz the garden in the hope that you and the kids can make use of it - and would anyone be kind enough to volunteer to help you.
