What's the Bravest/Maddest Thing You Ever Did WRT Men?

I'll go first - I have two:

  1. At 14, I put a note saying "please call me", and giving my number, in a gym bag, which I hoped was the gym bag of a boy I really fancied, at a daycamp. I had no real idea if it was his bag, but I had no other way to keep in touch with him. (we went out for years)
  1. Weeks after an ex broke up with me, I knocked on his bedroom window at 4am. (we got back together)

Anyone else been brave?

As a very self conscious, unpopular 16 year old I approached the boy I fancied, in a crowded classroom where other people could have seen me make a tit of myself, and told him I liked his band, thus striking up a conversation. Still can't quite believe I did it. (It worked though! Married him!)

expatinscotland · 06/10/2006 15:20

I agreed to marry DH about a week after meeting him.

Then, a month later, we married.

I planted a smacker on an older man,( well I was 16 and he was 21 ) as we were watching a band in a pub. It shocked him so much that he staggered into the lead guitarist, who proceeded to ask some some of what he was having! It must have worked though as we are still together 19 years later. Me and the older man not the guitarist

i really liked the boy round the corner for years, then he asked me out, but we never went out at all. so i called him and he told me he couldn't come out as he was watching the A team. i cried it took me so much courage to call him (i was about 11)

Oh, the other thing was the night I lost my virginity.

The air had been super-charged w/sexual chemistry between 'Pierre', my French host brother, age 23, and me, age 16.

He was home for a bit, so we were living under the same roof.

One evening we spent drinking and flirting and then went up to bed.

But I really didn't feel like going.

I got into my nightgown and laid on my bed.

Then I got up and knocked on his door.

Needless to say, he let me right in .

The maddest thing I ever did was turn down 2 chances with a guy I really fancied (as a teenager) My best friend idolised him and I couldn't do it to her - she didnt know how I felt about him and doesn't know to this day that he liked me. I am sure it wouldn't have lasted but it would have been great! He is still gorgeous now. He is a singer in a band about to become very successful Just a pipe dream though and I do love DH

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2006 15:30

When i was 16 a friend and I printed 120 invitations out to a party at my house and gave them to random blokes we fancied..most of them turned up..it was a brilliant party

NotQuiteCockney · 06/10/2006 16:55

These are great! Keep 'em coming!

(Less with the "maddest thing was saying no" stuff, I want good mad things!)

When I was 17, a guy who I had fancied for ages (he was 26) bought me a drink in a bar then asked me if I'd go for a drive with him. I directed him to our local pier, we walked to the end and I shagged him

crinklechunk · 06/10/2006 17:12

When I was 16 the guy I had fancied for about 2 years finally asked me out, he was outside the school disco having a fag and asked if I wanted to go on a date with him as I walked out.....
I was extremely shy and worried about what my dad would say (he was waiting for me in the car and I was already late) so I carried on walking as though I hadn't heard him
I regreted it for years!

Cappuccino · 06/10/2006 17:16

I used to follow around this bloke for a while at college who it had nearly 'happened' with in an attempt to recreate the moment

by the end of it I didn't even fancy him, it was ridiculous. I'm quite a control freak by nature and I was just Sticking To The Plan like some madwoman

I eventually sent my mate Graham to ask him if he was interested and he wasn't. It was weeks of hard work down the pan.

So I got off with Graham instead

Cappuccino · 06/10/2006 17:19

ooh have just remembered

me and my mates used to snog guys in nightclubs when we were 17-ish and then find out their jobs so we could make a collection

we even wrote a 12-Days of Christmas

Bravest & madest was having some dodgy squaddie that I was seeing back to my house while my parents were away & allowing him to join me in my parents bed!!
Thought I would get away with it, but he had gone & left his watch on my mums dressing table.
My parents were really angry & my dad was equally discusted with his fake Rolex!!!
Going out with this guy in the first place was also pretty mad of me. Not only did he two time me for a friend of mine at the time, but he was also engaged to some girl in Sheffield the whole time!!!

mum2monkeys · 06/10/2006 18:08

After just ending another 'never going anywhere' relationship, I'd decided that I really was perfectly happy on my own and under no circumstances was i going to start another relationship without having all my cards on the table first.

So on my second date with my DP, I layed it on the line, saying that as I was almost 30 I was not interested in getting another 'notch' on my bed post, I was looking for a long term, committed relationship, I wanted children relatively quickly and when I had them I wanted to be a SAHM until they were at least school age and then ideally I would prefer it if I only had to work part time.

He said 'sounds good to me'! and here we are 3yrs and 2 babies later - couldn't and have never been happier, still don't know were the balls came from that night though

NotQuiteCockney · 06/10/2006 20:43

Some of these worked out well ...

At the age of 19, I finally got the man of my dreams up to my bedsit to watch a film. Later, when he said he ought to be going I tied him to a chair with a headscarf, sat astride him and snogged his face off. It worked, he's now my dh and father of four! ( Can't belive I'm telling you lot this, it's the Raspberry Stoli again I'm afraid.)

definatelychangingnameforthis · 06/10/2006 20:58

Two at once , it was a now or never opportunity.

bran · 06/10/2006 21:02

I asked a man to marry me, which I think was pretty brave. Even braver was asking him again a few months later after he said "no" the first time. Fortunately he said "yes" that time and is now my dh.

maggiesmama · 06/10/2006 21:03

nuttymum1 · 06/10/2006 22:02
