Can this email to my DHs account from Jennifer @ gmx.com just be a scam or something more?

DH left his work email account open on the joint iPad. I glanced at it and there was an email from Jennifer.

It read: I have some more topless pictures for you, would you like to talk about it. Then signed off as ytmmhgy.

The email address is something like [email protected]

Can this just be a scam email, to his large corporate company email? Where would they get his email address from?

He deleted the email from his phone and it's now in his trash. He hasn't mentioned it which makes me think it's not the first time. If I received something like that I would tell him in a OMG you will never guess the email I have just received Shock way.

@RudyMentary

I suspect the spammers have temporarily found a way to get around the spam filters of your email provider (different email addresses, altered wording). It'll catch up again soon.

In the interim have a look at some of the Spoetry / spam poetry (also spampoetry.com). Turns out some of it can be rather inadvertently beautiful!

If you really want to be reassured you can run it through an email spam checker.

I regularly do this for clients for their email databases to prevent spam bots.

Hi thanks for the quick reply !! I tried that lol but got no results ? I don't know if that's a good think or not it was a gmx.com email ? But the address was nothing like the name (Jess).

I've had plenty of emails like this. many have inappropriately targeted me as a male as well (eg penis enlargements, viagra)!

Ok thank you so much was beginning to freaked out !, ??

Sasm5 · 01/01/2015 19:40

Sorry meant to read getting freaked out as it seems as though they know the town I live in.

Agree spam. I probably get rude ones in my spam folder but I also find lots of companies use first names in the email addresses or subject box nowadays. Probably as a way of making a generic email seem more personal.

Sasm5 · 01/01/2015 21:12

Thank you for all the replies I was beginning to panic that they knew my name and pretty much my location. I checked the email address and it came back as ok on one the verify email sites.
