FGS, I get up at around 5.00/5.30 am every school day. I need an hour to come to terms with contemplating drying their uniform/packed lunches/ how awful they'll be about getting dressed/having their hair brushed.

H comes down at 7.30.

Since we've had clear days and no clouds to keep the warmth in, it's been effin' freezing at that time of day, and I've shoved the heating on for half an hour. Needless to say I've been completely boXXXed for it.

This morning, at 7.30, H comes down and turns the heating on, while I've been freezing for 2 and a half hours.

Is it me??

If it's freezing, you turn the heating on. No need to sit there shivering. End of story.

It's bad enough having to get up at 5.00am! At least get your jobs done in the warmth.

I do lunches the evening before and lay out all our clothes upstairs in my room.

Set alarm for 6.50am and then it goes off every 10 mins til I get up at 7.30am

Wake ds1 up - who sleeps with me and dress him on the bed as its warmer. Then get DS2 and dress him on my bed too

Then we all go downstairs at 8am, stick toast in toaster. Give it to them and then I go and dress me.

8.25am out the door.

No way would I get up that early!!!

The smaller you are the colder you feel. I expect he is the biggest person in your house and feels the cold the least. Men ,women and children have different physical needs. If he thinks you all need the same amount of heat as him then perhaps he would like the same portion size at dinner time too ?!

I'm having my heating on for half an hour in the mornings now too.

SoMuchToBits · 03/10/2006 10:30

Do more the night before, so you don't have to get up so early. Or get H to get up early and do the jobs in the cold, and you lie in until 7.30

arsenelupin · 03/10/2006 13:20

Why aren't you switching the heating to come on at 5AM, if you prefer to get the work done early? If cost is an issue, do preparation the night before.
