2ND TIME AROUND, MEETING PARTNERS

For those of you who have children from a 1st marriage how did you meet your current DP/DH - I am 41 with 2 boys 3 and 6. All my friends are married and not all husbands are keen to let their wives out with a "divorcee", am not into the "cattle market" scene that goes on in bars and are crap at flirting, so how did you meet yours? Reading this I sound really desperate, am not, just curious how you met your new partners.

my friend is in the same boat she has just turned 40 and has a dd who is 3
she met her current partner (of now 3 weeks) on a works night out they just startrd to chat swopped numbers and then went their separate ways with friends, he then phoned her a couple of days later
to date her dd has not met partner but dd's dad and partner have met, she is planning to introduce them with a trip out somewhere

I met my dp on the internet, we chatted for a while through a mutual friend on msn and fell in love quickly ) luckily though he turned out not to be a freak of the net but a lovely man and there are lots out there honey. I didnt use dating sites so cant offer advice on any of these but im sure someone will be along shortly with more advice/info x

I'm a mum of 2 and met my new dp on the internet through dating site. we now live together have a 3 month old son and my 2 kids love him to death.

Strangly enough, since I became single a few months ago ive never seemed so appealing to the oppostite sex! Have been asked out more times in the last few months than ever before!

met dh through dating direct, although no previous hubby or kids. I would say internet is good because people know your situation in advance so you won't meet any time wasters.

for those of you who met dp/dh through internet - it's great that you can be upfront about your situation and thus avoid timewasters....but did you encounter people who were less than honest themselves? Any creeps? Even though I've had a fantastic internet experience via Mumsnet, for some reason I'm convinced that dating sites are populated by weirdies!

Will keep an eye on this thread topmum, as I too am curious about where/how people with children meet potential new partners.

yeah had some real weirdos mail me i was 28 then and had a 55 year old guy want to marry me straight away had no piccie of me and i told him to start with he was too old.

Yes some weirdos emailed me but I am extremely pedantic about grammar ( not that you would have guessed it from any of my posts, this was pre baby of course) and I weeded anyone out who used text spelling or couldn't communicate properly. I also didn't respond to anybody who didn't have a photo - yes shallow and judgemental I know but my feelings are that the married and truly dodgy are less likely to show their face.

I would try to avoid anyone who wants to spend weeks emailing & phoning you before meeting. They usually pull out from meeting up or turn out to be totally different from their on line or phone persona.

I would also arrange to meet for lunch or a drink, that way if they are not your cup of tea then you haven't wasted much time.

Give it a whirl, it is not expensive and if it doesn't work out try something else. Good luck.

Of course you get the weird ones, I had one bloke email me 30 - 40 times a day, I changed my email address after a week! I was speaking to my now dp on msn and the phone for 6 months before i finally got up the courage to meet, never looked back we met last July, he moved 200 miles to be with me in oct, now 5 months preg and I moved back the 200 miles with him a few weeks ago, of course we have our ups and downs, who doesnt - its been a bit of a whirlwind tbh, dec i fell pregnant and before this beanie stuck we had to get through 3 mc's together which was hard but imo brought us closer, been living together a year next month though and I love him more than ever

Ive been seeing this guy since for couple of months but been MSN for about 4 or 5....was worried he might be a weirdo but hes lovely....very attentive and caring - asks after my kids daily - more than their own father does....I found him on a dating site - had put my details on but didnt pay so could receive / send emails - was testing the water but not actively looking - BUT he somehow managed to have this email address on his pic & I emailed him!!

i met my dp on a wap chat site that id been going on for ages.i was a single mum at the time and i wasnt looking for a relationship-certainly not on there as id met a few weirdos in my time-but we started chatting and found out we lived in the same town so he popped round for a coffee,and we just hit it off.
