I just don't get it, after all these years and STILL my DH does not address me with any sort of name, be it my own name of a term of affection. No Darling, Love, Babe, anything, is this strange or what??? What do you think this means?/ He usually uses other peoples names when he is talking to them, just not me!

I was like this with all my ex's
it felt weird to me like their name was something their friends called them not me.
but I'm fairly sure I'm autistic and just can't say names in general without it feeling too.. intimate or something

ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

Threads 16 years old 🤦🏻‍♀️

Probably unlikely the OP will come back to it 🙄

Learned behaviour, his parents probably used the generic 'you' too all the time. Has he ever had to get your attention from a crowd? That's when you really need a name.

Dawna144 · 29/08/2022 03:14

No, we've not been in that situation and doubt we ever would be.

My son is autistic and can’t say names at all. We will describe people in his class and allow me to guess names tho

I am most probably autistic although not diagnosed and some names I simply cannot say.

I can’t say the name Nicola for example… really can’t say it

Ha! Very old thread. 🤣🤣

We very often just call each other Fart in this house. Been married 29 years now. It works for us.

Realise it's an old thread but my DH can't say the word "Yes".
me - are you ready for dinner? him - sure
me - do you want red or white wine? him -either
me - have you paid this bill? him- I think so
me- are you coming to bed now? him- soon

Gahhh!!!!
I'm assuming I'm the only one who has this problem!
