Counselling

Does anyone know of a good, down to earth, marriage counsellor in central London? DH and I are really in the last-chance saloon as a result of an ongoing EA (not the first). We are both holding back from talking to lawyers, but teetering on the edge. He has (somewhat surprisingly) said he might be prepared to try counselling, if only so we can have a forum to discuss practical matters in an emotionally safe environment. I am really nervous of blowing our last glimmer of hope by choosing the wrong person.

Isabelle Law at the Tavistock Clinic. DH and I saw her for about a year about 8 years ago now - she was excellent (and we are still together!).
I have googled and she is still there. Good luck!

Many thanks for the suggestion, TabbyT. I had been rather shying away from the Tavistock because I thought they might be a bit airy-fairy, with an emphasis on delving into how our childhoods affected our inner psyches. Right now, we need someone to give us an honest opinion on whether the marriage is salvageable and, if so, how. But I will give Isabelle very serious consideration. If only there was a TripAdvisor for this sort of thing!

We did talk about our childhoods quite a bit! It was a more psychotherapeutic approach I suppose than straight counselling but she was very good and straight talking so not what I would call airy-fairy. I think she would tell you whether she thought the marriage could be saved.
