Would probably have to pay alot of money for IVF i guess.

I think its to do with the mans sperm count

LouisaJF · 25/05/2014 20:32

Apparently it is to due with ovulation dates. Boy sperm are quick swimmers but don't live long, so if you DTD on your ovulation date it is more likely to be male. Girl sperm are slower swimmers and live longer so are more likely to still be around if you have sex a day or two before ovulating.

Notfastjustfurious · 25/05/2014 20:32

I've made 3 so should be an expert but really I have no idea. I did read something about being on a diet as girl babies are stronger and more able to cope so your body makes one but that could be bollocks. I wasn't on a diet with dd1 or dd3.

I have a daughter too but no idea how I achived that :)
The thing is that now because of my friend I'm really curious about all the methods... Its intresting!

Eat some cinnamon doughnuts

I have four boys and my fifth was a girl, we didn't do anything different! And people have asked!

Basically like most parents we had sex when we weren't too knackered ie not often!

I think it's related to ovulation, boy sperm swim faster but die quicker, girl sperm swim slower but live longer.

ThaneOfScunthorpe · 25/05/2014 20:56

I have two girls and they were both conceived after the best part of a bottle of red wine, so I can suggest that.

javotte · 25/05/2014 21:36

We tried every trick in the book to conceive a boy (special diet starting 3 months before TTC, DTD on ovulation, etc.) and 9 months later I gave birth to our lovely DD2!

Twinklestein · 25/05/2014 21:44

My sis had 2 boys and wanted a girl - she focused on ovulation dates, temperature, PH balance. But to be honest I think her daughter was just luck of the draw.

MisForMumNotMaid · 25/05/2014 21:47

I'd read the male sperm swimming faster thing. I was very ill when I conceived last time so know the exact date. My prediction based on this theory was boy. DD is however gorgeous and adored by her big brothers.

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 25/05/2014 21:48

Apparently the sex is all to do with how fit the man is and how much testosterone he has at the time. No idea if this is true, however in my very scientific experiment it actually worked out! (When I say scientific experiment I mean dh was unfit and slightly overweight and we had 2 girls. Then he started working out, lost a bit of weight became fitter and we accidentally conceived ds. See completely scientific Wink)

So that proves it, the fitter the male the more likely to conceive a boy.

Notfastjustfurious · 26/05/2014 19:46

I've just read an article in the DF that beautiful women are more likely to produce daughters so that's my 3 explained Wink

Cbeebies my dh would be massively insulted by your science!

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 28/05/2014 08:44

It's not my science, sorry didn't explain that very well, I read it in one of these 'how to get the gender you want' articles. I just accidentally 'proved' it. I don't believe it btw, my dad is a very fit fireman and has 3 daughters and 3 sons.

ILoveCoreyHaim · 28/05/2014 08:53

IVF gender selection. I have 3 dds. Their dad has 5 sisters and he is the only male grandchild on either side. I have 3 dB's but I can't do anything about it, it's down to him. Most people I know have 3 or 4 kids all the same sex. I have ruled out having anymore as my 3 love to bicker and adding another girl would probably just make things worse.

ILoveCoreyHaim · 28/05/2014 08:56

Also when I was of with DD3 I got a lot of comments like

Do you know what your having, oh another girl, better luck next time.

Ah another girl, never mind

BuzzardBird · 28/05/2014 09:00

eat some cinnamon doughnuts this...and stay away from puppy dog tails and snails Grin

pointythings · 28/05/2014 09:05

Well, I have two DDs and we did indeed DTD 2 days before ovulation both times - not planned, it just turned out that way. I have painful ovulation so can always tell when I'm ovulating. I know that isn't scientific, though.

JapaneseMargaret · 28/05/2014 09:14

We have one of each, and they were both conceived on the day of ovulation.

Orangeanddemons · 28/05/2014 09:19

Ds was conceived on day of ovulation.

Dd just before

mrsruffallo · 28/05/2014 09:21

Ditto, orange
