Women's Aid

CogitoErgoSometimes · 21/05/2014 17:04

Womens Aid's number is 0808 2000 247. Or they could try the police DV unit - call 101.

The children would probably be eligible for legal aid for community care (not housing), which could mean they may be given accommodation and subsistence payments.

or Refuge

scater · 21/05/2014 17:11

Children's social work service may cover the costs of refuge accommodation as there are children in the family.

SilverSixpence · 21/05/2014 17:12

Do we seriously leave children homeless in this country if their mothers have to leave abusive relationships Hmm

CogitoErgoSometimes · 21/05/2014 17:31

No we don't.

SilverSixpence · 21/05/2014 17:47

Cogito do Women's aid provide emergency shelter in situations like this? If she is not a UK citizen can the husband try and get custody on that basis?

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 21/05/2014 20:20

Contact social services, they will know what the children are entitled to.

Corygal · 21/05/2014 20:27

Is she in the country legally? If so, there are loads of charities who will help.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 21/05/2014 21:23

Courts are not going to award custody to a violent man and put children at risk just because he's British. There should be emergency refuge available from which the family can deal with their visa application
