Vaginoplasty

Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone has done Vaginoplasty, before and how it affected your sex life. Was it better after.

I am going for an op tomorrow and I hear it hurts like hell in the first week after. After 3 natural births, I had a huge cave down under, which was affecting our love life. DH has always been polite and said all is fine, but I am simply not enjoying sex with him anymore. He is average size and though we went on to have 2 other DC, after the 1st one, things were not the same. They were not even that big babies.

The gyna said he could easily fit 6 fingers in there, he has done hundreds of this operation and says it's a common problem. Seriously, I did not feel uncomfortable when he did fit the fingers.

DH has a hard time keeping it up nowadays, and aside from the conception of the last 2 DC, sex has been pretty much off the table, and I don't mind as I am not enjoying it at all. No friction.

The Gyna said he would do me 2 fingers, I said, 1 and a half, and he said sex should not be painful, and though lots of women ask for a pencil fit, for all they care, he feels it's a failed procedure it things are too tight. I want a vice grip to be honest.

Not many people talk about this, and though in the marriage I guess you have to abide by it, surely not all women who date later have not had natural births, or did everything just go back into place after?

I am mostly doing this for me as I cannot imagine a sexless or unsatisfied sex life for the next few decades.

Glad to hear from people who have had the op like you FourFolks...........
The superxx tampon just falls out of me........... even when dry.lol.

Copper, DH did not have slack problems before the cave, it's because he's not hitting the sides, sometimes you have to trust your instict - also not hard to add up.
Also if he still goes soft after op, well, I am back where I was, only not feeling bad, because I did not attempt to resolve the issue.

But seriously, people, are we really so few with this problem?

You'll probably get more on high traffic areas such as AIBU or Chat, but not sure I'd want the exposure.

I thought mine had gone bigger but I think it's maybe a bit larger than two male fingers, but not 3. Tampons don't hold as good these days, though.

But I'd probably do the same it if was 6 fingers. I can see that other methods wouldn't work.

FourForksAche · 07/05/2014 11:38

But seriously, people, are we really so few with this problem?

I think most women don't hit this problem till after a few births. Plus who want's to admit to having a twat like a wizard's sleeve? It's embarrassing.

Regarding partners who are too small finding us a bit roomy, I find flinging my legs way back helps. Also, having sex when the bowel was full made me less cavernous but I really don't wanna think about that too much!

LittleTurtle · 07/05/2014 11:57

LMFAO, with twat like wizard's sleeve, FourForks. lol

That's me.

DH is always swinging me around, trying to find the best position, doggy etc.

Lweji, will try AiBU too to see if someone can come who has done it. Thanks

Hope it's ok, with others that I move this to higher traffic.

Cheers

LittleTurtle · 07/05/2014 12:36

But tell me Four, did you sex life improve after?

OP posts:
summertimeandthelivingiseasy · 07/05/2014 13:07

Had small prolapse repair and perineum rebuild.

Tampons stay in, swimming pool stays out, weeing straighter, self esteem better.

Pooing no better :(

FourForksAche · 07/05/2014 13:14

no, sex life did not improve at all, sadly, but I'm more resigned to it now, more mentally adjusted that I will never have sex again like I did pre children. Pooing improved for about a year until I had a severe chest infection that lasted 2 months & took repeated steroids & antibiotics to fix. The coughing wrecked it.

FourForksAche · 07/05/2014 13:20

But little, yours is a different op designed specifically to change the vagina, my NHS one was just to stop bits dropping out.

LittleTurtle · 07/05/2014 14:39

Hi Summer,

Glad t hear that tampons stay in and weeing is better etc. and self esteem. Self Esteem is the major problem for me.

Had no problem with poo though. Good luck with you.

Four, Atleat you may fell that you tried something with the sex life. Good luck in the future.

FourForksAche · 07/05/2014 19:24

Oh my word. My gynae is a gentlewoman in more ways than one!

Good Luck Turtle; I hope it all works out for you, and remember there is support on the prolapse etc threads for any post op issues and a bit of TLC, Cake and [tea] and Wine

summertimeandthelivingiseasy · 08/05/2014 13:43

Good luck little turtle!

Def recommend the any old prolapse thread for support.

Recovery - 4-6 weeks to feel ok, 12weeks+ better.

Use lots of lube! (Sylk, Yes, non flavoured benign stuff)

Salazar · 08/05/2014 13:46

Please do come back and let us know how it went. I'd like the same for me when I'm done having babies.

You seem to be doing it for all the right reasons too. I hope you get the results you're looking for. Good luck.

purplegadget · 08/05/2014 17:39

To answer the question 'or did everything just go back into place after?'

I'm sure things must be slightly different down there after three vaginal births - not huge babies but largest was 8lbs 10oz. I was never brave enough to ask DH directly but neither of us had any problems sex wise and I still use mini tampons.

I did ask a subsequent partner out of curiosity what he thought and he had no complaints either.

It's obviously another aspect of pregnancy and birth that affects different women in different ways and isn't a given that after several vaginal births there must inevitably be a problem.

FourForksAche · 09/05/2014 07:54

how are you, little?

LittleTurtle · 09/05/2014 12:40

Hi All,

Thank you so much for your support.

On Wednesday night I went into the hospital to sleep and we woke up early the next day. We were three in the ward room and me and another lady were for the same doctor, and the third was with the (partner doctor), the DRs work in the same offices. Though both highly experienced and qualified, they help each other. So when I went in, my doctor introduced his partner (who I knew already) as to be assisting him with the procedure. My op was straight forward.

I came into the prep room and the anaesthetist (whom I had met earlier as well for assessment etc.) gave me an injections and the last thing I remember was being assisted to moving beds in the theatre. Next thing, I am being woken up to be told by the doctors all went very well, they are very happy, all straight forward.

I stayed in the ward with the grip and felt no pain at all till about dinner time (surgery was around 9am). Up to now, its a very mild pain. You can feel something tightened there, but not too much. A bit like after child births sewing, but less sever. I am taking pain killers - but can take them or leave them tbh, for now anyway. If I lie on my side or back, hardly pain. A bit more when standing for long hours or sitting upright (but I use a dough pillow for that). Still careful in the toilet as I use a damp warm cloth to cover the stitches as I pee. Dreading number 2 though I will use a stool softner.

Yesterday I had a catheter, which was taken out today. When sleeping I had a bit of sleep apnoea, resulting in concerns about my oxygen levels, which the nurse said I need, so slept in a sitting position, and that solved the issue. Was drowsy till after dinner, then we were given sleeping pills at night as well as some painkillers. Been given pain killers and a cream to rub on. So am home today. And so far, the pain is no where anywhere that I imagined, and I hope the op actually worked now!

One other lady had a prolapse case and told me she had sever problems with uterus etc. So she is staying one more night and was on higher medication and slept all yesterday and night.

The other one, once had an appendix rapture that the debris went all the way to her uterus, so they were doing a clean up. She did not need a catheter and walked around fine yesterday, so could be dismissed same day, though she opted to sleep over and left today.

Will update, 6/8 weeks later to those who want about the REAL results.

Thanks
