How do I change my next of kin?

Me and dh had a argument last night where I said I was leaving. I have severe mental health problems and he threatened to exaggerate my behaviour to get me admitted if I did.

How do I change him from my next of kin? Do I have to see a solicitor?

I think you can nominate whomever you please as next of kin. There's no strict legal definition, put it that way, and it doesn't even have to be a blood relative or spouse. If he's threatening to get you committed it could be worth having a pre-emptive conversation with your GP. Seeing a solicitor sounds like a wise move and see what they recommend. They may suggest a version of a 'living will' for example.

I will give my psychiatrist a call and let him know today. Then I will empty the savings tomorrow and see a solicitor thank you.
