How can I hide when I've been on Facebook?

Does anyone know how to hide when you've been on Facebook please?

What do you mean hide when you've been on Facebook? Hide your pits from someone, or delete your browsing history? Why would you want to hide that you'd been on Facebook anyway?

Long story why .... But when you're on FB there is a Colman on the right hand side of your friends who are in line at that moment or who have been off maybe 2 hours ago. You can somehow change this that it doesn't show you're on or have been on.

Ah, that, there should be a button at the top to turn off chat, looks like a gear wheel on an ipad, but not sure what it looks like on other devices.

I don't know how it's possible retrospectively but you can turn off chat and hide that column completely by clicking on the door symbol at the very bottom.

I'm worried you're needing to cover your tracks though. Are you safe?

Yes, turn chat off at the bottom of the column.

Friends will still see the last time you were on though until it drops off their list though I think.

Yes you can turn off chat, so that when you are on Facebook you are not showing as 'online'
I too, am pretty sure though that it still shows to other people when you were 'last active'

Do you mean Chat OP or do you mean your whole FB with photos & everything? Do you want to hide that you have an account or do you want to stop someone from seeing your account?

You can leave chat permanently turned off so nobody knows if you are online.

I hope you are OK - if someone is hassling you click on their name and then you can block them entirely.

I think if you set things so that's visible to 'only me' then it doesn't appear on that sidebar.

That's how mine is and I don't think people can see what I've been doing then.

the only me bit is for hiding posts or info about yourself. The chat sidebar can just be switched off so you don't appear as online for chat.

are you on FB (thrown a sickie) when you should be working??? and work coleagues are your friends and can see - now that would be naughty

lavender I thought OP meant the sidebar that says so and so likes this page or so and so commented on blah blah?

I have chat turned off but it still says when I last checked it on my mobile - v annoying
